"Lincoln in the Bardo" by George Saunders.

It was fascinating the first time I read it a year ago, so I've gone back for another read.

Thumbs up Quarry's Deal by Max Allan Collins

Third in the long running Quarry series about a Vietnam vet turned midwest hitman. This one was originally released in 1976 as The Dealer, but reissued in the 80's as the series had gained a cult following. Love the McGinnis art for the latest edition.

Have just finished two books, first was Silks by Felix Frances son of Dick Frances you can barely distinguish between styles. If I had been told Dick wrote it I would have believed it! Methinks this was just a ruse to establish his son as a writer.

Second was Bitter Medicine by Sara Paretsky Featuring her hard boiled private eye V.I. Warshawski. V I ´s friend Consuelo's pregnancy is already risky-she's sixteen and diabetic. Despite V.I.'s efforts to provide Consuelo with proper care, both mother and daughter die in the local hospital. Suspecting malpractice, V.I. begins an investigation. Good decent page turner, after you have suspended belief.

Rainbows End, by Vernor Vinge.
Science-fiction set in the near future (2025). A possible future, although I don't see it happening that soon.

Good read anyways.

Default George R R Martin - Fire and Blood part 1 - 11/2018

Been a while since i read anything by him as his books in the library always seem to be out
I blame GOT on TV deciding 2018 would be a gap year

This is the first volume of the definitive two-part history of the Targaryens in Westeros.

3.91/5 706 pages
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...21-fire-blood#

The consensus seems to be the next Volume of GOT wont ever be in print until the TV series ends - for commercial reasons one suspects.

The Amulet by Michael McDowell

Quote:
With her husband Dean at home in a vegetative state after a gun accident, Sarah Howell is at the mercy of her lazy but controlling and hateful mother-in-law Jo. When the citizens of Pine Cone, Alabama, begin to die in shocking and grisly ways, Sarah begins to suspect that a unique piece of jewelry that a vengeful Jo gave away is connected
The first novel by southern gothic master McDowell, first published in 1979 and reissued in 2013 by Valancourt books. This is the second book I've read by him, the other being Blackwater, which I consider to be one of the best examples of the southern gothic/horror genre. Love his characterizations.
