Soap Babes

I have a suspicion that America invented the Soap Opera.... Peyton Place must have been one of the very first.

But while soaps in the UK were gritty, working class... like Coronation Street...
America came up with glam and glitz... Dynasty, Dallas etc... like soaps from another world.

Got to say they came up with some hot soap babes.... Linda Evans, Victoria Principal for eg.

( somehow I dont think Elsie Tanner and Deidre are in their league )

Eastbenders I think... Martine McCutcheon and Daniella Westbrook behind the bar, Patsy Palmer on set with that lovely long red hair.
Michelle Collins (a foxy blonde) was around too.

(Somehow todays episodes just aint the same !
maybe the show peaked around 1996 ? )

And wasn't Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear) supposed to be Corrie's sixties and seventies sex symbol?

their hayday was the 1970s when Corrie ruled the soap scene

they had everything, big limos ... big estates....

both soaps are kaput though right now !

The Bold and the Beautiful
General Hospital
Days of our Lives

can't think of any others
maybe the heyday of the soaps is over ?

Do US Presidential elections count? If not they should. They go on for years and are full of unbelievable characters who lie and cheat all the time, throw silly insults at each other and who aren't really allowed to swear...
