Watching:
Black Moon Rising (1986) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090735/ What the fuck was this thing? Tommy Lee and Linda (Sarah Connor) must still be kicking themselves for having starred in this. Linda (thinking): "I thought my film career was going to skyrocket after The Terminator. Now 2 years later, the only thing I have to show for is one lousy TV movie and this B action film. But I am getting offered a TV role playing opposite a big guy with an ugly face and a big fur on his head. Maybe that will help my career!!" Linda (thinking): Ummmmm.... This role is familiar. Sitting in the passenger seat feeling helpless and looking scared while some guy drives around real fast! I can do this!! Last edited by Reclaimedwg; July 28th, 2018 at 09:54 PM.. |

A Force of One
One of the multiple Chuck Norris martial arts movies from the late '70s and '80s. Some were good, a couple were OK and some were pretty bad. This one was kind of notable for having Bill "Superfoot" Wallace as the main bad guy in the movie. |

The Octagon and Good Guys Wear Black and Lone Wolf McQuade and Forced Vengeance and Code Of Silence are the only decent movies Chuck ever made.
Remember Silent Rage? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084684/ I took a girl to see it. I said Chuck Norris is in it! He is COOL! Let's go! After that she said that's the last time she let me pick the movie. |

Alice And The Extraordinary World. Made in 2015, it's an animated scifi about an alternative earth where thanks to the machinations of Napoleon The Third, the world's scientists have either disappeared or are working for the French. Most of the movie is set in the 1941 where the world is still stuck in the steam age, Europe is denuded of resources and France is preparing for war with Canada to acquire their expanses of forest. A really interesting movie.

Thanks for reminding me/us about this terrific movie. The movie score is apt and haunting that does indeed bring out a lot of the emotions you mentioned and to which is an extremely rare commodity in cinema these days, great review.

Edge of Tomorrow aka Live. Die. Repeat.
Forgot how much I enjoyed this movie. Really good incorporation of video game structure into a compelling story. |

I watched "A Taxing Woman" (1987) again. A favorite of mine, A Japanese female tax agent after a gangster hiding his money. At the beginning of the film, the gangster uses a dying old man to hide title to his property. In exchange he pays for a wet nurse so the old man can suck on big tits in the last few months of his life. I have always thought that would be a nice way to spend the last days of my life. The rest of the film is funny as hell too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZKDx0zO3zY Hit the "CC" button for subtitles. If you like it, you should catch "Tampopo" (1985) - another Itami film - kinda of the Seven Samurai of Noodle films. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0ivgvS1PMw Always makes me go get some noodles after watching it. (I just noticed that Ken Watanabe has a role in Tampopo - the actor of The Last Samurai and Letters from Iwo Jima distinction.) Last edited by Rogerbh; July 29th, 2018 at 03:58 PM.. |

Night of The Comet (1984)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087799/ Brilliant 80's science fiction with a Day of The Triffids style theme, albeit plant free, a comet last seen at the time of the dinosaurs extinction is due to pass by again and comet parties are being held. Sisters Regina and Samantha miss the light show for different reasons and find they appear to be the only humans alive. Mad scientists, the odd zombie and a great soundtrack aided by a superb cast headed by Catherine Mary Stewart and Kelli Maroney and a pre Voyager Robert Beltran trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdH8NQbvOKo full movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me4pOQOt20s

Halfway through North by Northwest. I know there were negotiations for Hitchcock to make a Bond film in the late 50s and that later on Cubby Broccoli was interested in Cary Grant as Bond. This is as close as we ever got to Hitchcock directing Cary Grant as Bond. And it's just terrific.
Trailer for anyone who doesn't know the film. |

ParaNorman. I got it because we had a couple of the grandkids saying over. I don't know who liked it more me or them. Ghoulishly good fun.
