Hillary will almost certainly run in 2016. Alas, I suspect the American people will never get the opportunity to elect President Palin or President Bachman. But who will run for the Republicans is a good question; in the gallery of contenders in 2012 there were few serious possibles. One must discount vanity candidates like Herman Cain and featherweights like Rick Perry, who will abolish stuff if only he can remember what the stuff is. Who is out there, apart from Newt ("free love") Gingrich, Ron Paul (how old will Ron Paul be in 2016?), Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney?

I can't see right now who will be a credible opponent to Mitt Romney in the 2016 nomination contest. I doubt if the lesson will be learned, but the lesson for Republicans ought to be that they lost the contest on the centre ground. They had a centre-right candidate but not a centre-right campaign.

I might be incorrect here, but this thread was started even before the election was called in the US by my calculations.... But what do I know, I'm just a dumb fuck from downunder

Don't get me involved in this as I don't know much about US politics, But, considering my political views tend too lean to the right a bit, I don't think Obama did a bad job. A lot of politicians blame the previous government or what they inherited. Obama did get handed the GFC, many were hoping wouldn't end up a depression. The auto bail seems too have worked also.... so I'll give him points there

The last time the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup, Goalie Patrick Roy was leaving the locker room after the deciding game and someone asked him if they would win the Cup next year.

Could we please have a few months of peace and quiet before we start on the next campaign circus?

Makes me wish the Mayans were right and the world will come to an end on December 21.
