Wink Hotels , B&B`s Or Places You Stayed In.

Now i guess the worst Hotel i ever stayed in was the Las Vegas one () , that me and Estreeter shared a room at.

Don`t want to name it though as legal proceedings are still ongoing

Here`s a weeny clue

The room cost us a grand but was a total mess , with filthy sheets , torn curtains , stained carpets , broken windows , a smashed up balcony and an overflowing toilet. While the mini bar wasn`t just empty ,the actual fridge door had been ripped off and thrown through the television !

Hmmmm , so no wonder they`re trying to sue us for willful damage

But like Estreeter said at the time " We might as well get our monies worth mate "

Anyway that`s what this typically nonsense thread is about

Places you`ve stayed at and what they were like.

So why not post your own experiences , to hopefully spare your brother members a future fright

When I was in LA in January,1994, I stayed at the Best Western on Sunset Boulevard. Great location, in the neighborhood with the Roxy, the Laugh Factory, the Whiskey-A-Go-Go and the House of Blues.

What made it better, and somewhat strange was that when my sister and i got to the hotel, there was no one else staying there except an unheraled band. So my sister and I were upgraded to a mini-suite. We had a full kitchen with a regular refridgerator, full stove, the works. Just no utensils or cookware.

Just shows what you can get if you visit somewhere just after a natural disaster like the Northridge Earthquake.

The worst place I stayed at was a "holiday camp" at Barry Island. I was a kid when we went. My parents had booked and paid for a week's holiday there and was looking forward to going. Then That's Life came on the TV (so you can tell how long ago it was) and did one of their specials on it. Needless to say, it wasn't complimentary. Cue worried looks all round.

We get to the camp and it appeared to be Ok. Until mealtimes, when it resembled a POW camp - "You vill sit here or there vill be trouble!" "Here is your food - tough if you don't like it!" The chalet wasn't anything to shout about either, although ours wasn't as bad as some apparently were.

The entertainment was God awful as well. They had a band that wasn't too bad the first night. The second night, they played exactly the same songs again. The same bloody songs every night for a week! By the fourth night, it resembled Groundhog Day (or Night ).

About the only thing that was any good was the arcade machines - although these were probably 5 years out of date. At least there were some decent pinball machines.

It has now closed down (Halleluyah!) and more than resembles an abandoned POW camp. Good riddance!

A few years back, me and the then girlfriend, spent about an hour in The Bates Motel in Hollywood, waiting for the car to be fixed..

Didn't care much for the manager, we both thought he was a bit of a Psycho..

My son was on a short tour somewhere in England with a band and they stayed in a Travelodge sort of place for a weekend - 4 of them in the one room, all drunker than each other.

Somehow, he told me , they got the bright idea of seeing how long they could go without flushing the lavatory .

By the end of the weekend nobody could take a piss without vomiting on top of the reeking cesspool that the shitter had become

The worst was probably the Riviera in Las Vegas. I got spoiled meat at the buffet, the shops were crap, every restaurant in the hotel is ghastly, and there was semen splattered on my friend's bed skirting. The Riviera is really shitty compared to every other hotel on the strip.... it doesn't even have a roller coaster or anything.

I have written before about my affinity for the Grateful Dead. In my misspent youth I would travel around the States to see them perform. My friends and I were seeing them play in an outside venue near Milwaukee, WI. We were planning on camping for the duration of the four day event. The weather had another plan. It rained hard and steadily for three days. All of our tents, sleeping bags, clothes were completely soaked. We made an executive decision to get some hotel rooms. We drove into Milwaukee and found that 20,000 other Deadheads had made the same decision and we couldn't find a hotel that had any rooms available. We drove to the outskirts of town in search of a place to stay. We finally came upon a greatly run-down hotel that had a "Vacancy" sign blinking. I think it was called the Chateau de Meth. I went up to the front desk manager and told him that we wanted two rooms for 10 people. He didn't even bat an eye. That should have been our first clue. He gave us the keys to the rooms and what rooms they were! Stained sheets, burn holes on the carpet and mattress, tinfoil on the TV antenae, one towel per room, leaky faucet.....all together bad. We didn't care. We just wanted to dry off, take showers and get out of the rain. Across the street from the hotel was a Pizza H*t and a liquor store. We bought some pizza and liquid sustenance and started to get ready for that night's concert. We left to go to the show but not before making sure we had left enough beer and pizza to keep us all happy when we got back to the rooms later that night. After the concert, it rained the whole time, we headed back to the hotel. We all had a certain kind of hungry and those beers and pizza were sure sounding good right about then. We go into our room and, as God as my witness, someone had come into our room and eaten all our pizza and drank all of our beer. Well not all of the pizza, they left some crusts for us in the boxes. We were as angry as 10 Deadheads can be after a long day of partying....which means not angry at all. But we had to do something. I was elected to go down and talk to the front desk. I went down there and it was the same guy who checked us in. And it was now 14 hours later. He must be very diligent I thought to myself, working such long hours and all. He wasn't diligent or dedicated..... he was tweakin' so bad on meth he could barely talk. He was higher than me and all of my friends put together. I asked him in my best angry customer voice: "What the hell is going on in this place?!" His response was: "In terms of what?" I almost started laughing. That response told me all I needed to know. There was alot going on at the Chateau de Meth and some pizza and beer stolen from a bunch of stoned Deadheads wasn't much of a problem in the grand scheme of things. I was in no state of mind to fight/argue/reason with a guy on a 6 day amphetemine binge so I said a few strong utterances of disapproval and went back to the room. I told my friends what had happened and we all just started laughing. The absurdity of the whole thing had won the day and there was nothing left to do but laugh. We were laughing even harder when we crapped on the bed the next morning before we left.

Yes i recall reading the reviews on that particular Travelodge written while your son was still there from people in the rooms adjacent, and from someone who took the room straight after he checked out.

They all complimented the Hotel on raising it`s standards, especially concerning hygiene
