Wink An Apple a day

Looks like Apple have done a mozilla / firefox (add-ons/extensions) in a slightly different way

8. Third-party apps not working on macOS Mojave

The main problem here is 32-bit/62-bit distinction. Apple stated that macOS High Sierra is the last operating system to support 32-bit optimized applications. From then on, if an app isn’t updated for 64-bit architecture, you won’t be able to use it on Mojave. This is one of the reasons not to update and stay with the good old High Sierra on your Mac.

The 2 Macs in this house haven't had a problem with any app, that said both were built this year,

Mentions aperture don't work, mine does ...

The one thing i did notice was my all important meme generator lost all my custom images for memes after Mojave was installed.

Doesn't the second paragraph contradict the first I guess I could only understand this if I was using an A---- computer

Didn't you perform a full back up to an external hard drive? If you did you should still have everything.

Nope
If the application didn't work or was crashing I'd consider that a problem,
If aperture wasn't working that would be a disaster

But that Meme generator works, all the in built images that came with it are still there, but importing my own custom images like this one

So I can do this

Having those lost isn't even an issue
In fact, I don't think the upgrade was even the issue, every time I buy an application from the app store I keep a copy of the original one on an external hard drive, I might have copied the original one and overwritten the one on the Mac, I think.

Having owned/used the same Mac for 10 years now I too have had to delete apps due to obsloscence. If the app developers don't upgrade your apps to the new OS upgrade they won't always perform or even work at all.I'm still using El Capitan.

Apple have released Catalina there latest operating system today (8th 10 2019) , but anyone who is running a mac computer would have been receiving notifications that software that is 32 bit will not work on Catalina.

That's odd, my "Windows" seem to work fine.

Sorry, thought you could use a distraction from all this computer talk as it looks like the poll here is fairly evenly split 34/29

I installed Catalina, works very well
For months before Catalina was released some of the 32 bit apps when opened a pop up message would appear saying future updates would not be compatible,

I had 2 and sure enough didn't, one has since been updated which was a third party DVD ripper that overlooks copyright protection, that the third party , Aimersoft has a new version and works OK, the other is for my ISP, Dodo the dongle for my mobile BB can't use mobile BB but it had built in wifi also, that still works without a problem.

And, forgot, I had a game, Governor of Poker which was bought at the App Store, that don't work and still no update.

Other than that there has been a minor update to Catalina, I'm running 10.15.1 and it's great, the one thing I do hate is for whatever reason syncing the 2 iPhones and iPad to iTunes seems to take way too long.
