Only when the bugger is a deceptively tempting pound a pint can or less, have I thought (Hey it could happen) to dance with such a dull tasting devil
We prefer the term "Constantly dry of mouth"

First thing to observe is that no-one in my neck of the woods seems to be suffering from lack of funds. We had to give up on the local curry-serving pub because it was packed - wanted a curry but no tables and people already waiting at the bar.
So went on to usual Sunday pub and that was packed too - but managed to grab last table for a burger. BUT - Now, I know it's not the world's best lager, but we usually go for Becks and a reasonable, light session pint... but no longer on tap!!! So we were offered Amstel as an alternative...and found that very disappointing. No real bite to it at all. Generic Eurofizz. |

I admit I am no purist. Lagers as a rule do not appeal anyway but I will occasionally drink Heineken shandy on a hot day especially when I am out on my motorcycle for a Sunday ride in summer and want a drink in a country or seaside pub without going over the alcohol limit. I also drink Strongbow cider if I can't get anything better and that's as generic as you can get. If I can find a Stan Smith's pub, they do a very palatable dry cider. Sad to relate by my alcohol intake has fallen and fallen since I am no longer in my prime. I am a very cheap date now; three pints is enough to almost pole-axe me. All the more reason not to compromise and to only drink what is good to my taste buds.

Today's drink comes from Germany: Sunner Kolsch: Kolsch type beer is made exclusively in the city of Cologne, Germany. It is a top fermented beer made with 100% malts. Pours with a clear straw yellow color with a frothy white head. Alcohol content 4.8%. Tastes of sweet malt and a light taste of biscuit and citrus. No aftertaste at all. Very good overall. |

Drinking Tonight ?
Haven't sampled this delicious brew for many months yet saw they`d been reduced to a pound a bottle
So nabbed a handful It`s up in the top five for me. With of course Hoegaarden the top. Only at closer to a fiver a bottle (Granted a 650ml , butt still) I tend to reluctantly leave that one on the shelves , and pine
