^^ Trust you do not include me as a whinger ?
I am just a realist. Seem to remember a 'pink' day during the last Ashes series in blighty. And pink was the dominant colour. Never regard charity-giving as responding to begging. My only 'moan' when it comes these days to charity is so much creamed off in admin costs. And, basically, there is only one 'charity case' in Australia right now. |

As far as "Pink" goes I will give money as I have lost an aunt and just managed to keep my wife to the dreaded breast cancer, I also lost my Dad to the Lung and Heart variety.
Long may the "begging" continue. |

On charities, and out of thread, but amusing and bloody telling! Medicines sans Frontier, the medical charity beloved by those of us who have worked in disaster areas, spend 90% on aid compared to an average oof 72% by other aid charities! Now the amusing bit!
In a conversation with an MSF Doctor, I asked what was the diference between them and all the rest? His reply was this: ' When you go to most of the others, they will say 'ah your arm is hanging off, you have a hole in tour leg and a big cut down the side of your head, so here is a bottle of water and a blanket, go and sit over there'. We see you and say ' look at the state of you!I am going to stick this needle in your arm and it will give you fluids, because I am to mean to give away bottles of water, I will stick this needle in the other arm, while you have a little sleep, I will fix up the broken bits, and when you wake up you will be in bed with a blanket! OK?' That folks says absolutely everything! They also do not advertise on TV for funding! |

I volunteered for a wildlife charity for 9 months some two years ago developing a bespoke admin system for one of their departments. The ineptitude of the charity's (quite well-paid) management was simply staggering. Reminded me of the worst elements of 1970s state-run monoliths, when people barely able to supervise an egg being boiled became senior managers and directors.
But it was allied to a totally unworthy holier-than-thou attitude - the idea that because they work for a charity that they're somehow morally superior to everyone else. Because of my experience I'll never again donate to any charity that I do not know intimately. Charity is a tax on the gullible and vulnerable and that has been increasingly exploited by worthless low-lifes over the past decade or so. .

Poor Cricket Australia After backing down in the pay dispute war with the players they are doing everything they can to claw back lost revenue Just when you thought the over fixturing couldnt get any sillier along comes a meaningless one day series which will be robbing the big bash franchises of key players. We're led to believe the T20 comp loses them money - pull the other one Live 5th Test, England tour of Australia and New Zealand at Sydney, Jan 4-8 2018 England 346 Australia 590/5 * (185 ov) Day 4 Session 2: Australia lead by 244 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 1st innings http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/1...nd-nz-2017-18/ |

The one day series was long established before the big bash, started back in World Series Cricket days. People forget the tri-series always after the test series and it was awesome. One day cricket in Australia hasn't been the same since the loss of the tri-series.
Anyway it was over 50C in the middle today at the SGC. |

And back to the cricket...
Aus declared at 7/649 a lead of 303. The Marsh brothers became the 3rd set of Australian brothers to score centuries in the same Test innings, behind the Chappells (3 times, twice in one Test!), and the Waughs (twice). Great stat - most Test cricketers don't have an opportunity to deliver this one. England have conceded 4 of the top 10 highest innings totals in away tests in their last 7 overseas tests. A real pointer to their bowling stocks away from home. Crane conceded 193 runs which is the most ever by an English bowler on debut, and English spinners have taken a total of 8 for 900 at an average of 112.5 in this series. England limped to 4/93 at stumps. After a standout MCG test, Cook back to normal for this series, Stoneman, Vince have underwhelmed again, and Malan ends a pretty good tour on a down note. I expect the result to be 4-0 to Aus after tomorrow, likely to see a few big shots as the lower order hit out. If Pat Cummins doesn't bat again, he will end with an average of 41.5 for the series batting at 9. Not a bad effort coupled with 20 wickets at 27 so far.
