And what exactly do you think a UK parliamentary committee can do to a US citizen not currently in the UK-and CEO of a corporate with virtually worldwide reach? Block Facebook? As if they have the authority-let alone the means to do so...

OF course Mark Zuckerberg can extend two fingers in the direction of the select committee-in a well recognised universal gesture if he so feels inclined.....that will irritate a few more people-and confirm a lot more peoples' opinion of the man.....but Facebook is largely a law unto itself.

And now for something out of left field:

Some twat (and that's the politest description I can find..) down here (NZ) has seriously proposed introducing snow leopards into the South Island as a conservation measure. Really? Into a country that has never had any form of quadruped feline predator in its entire history till europeans brought cats, dogs and mustelids?

https://www.stuff.co.nz/timaru-heral...h-island-crazy

I wonder if he'd like to add piranhas to the rivers-to make life that little bit more exciting for fishermen and trampers....how about salt water crocodiles to make estuarine areas more exciting as well....

There are times I despair over my fellow countrymen.....

Fuck, in Canada, they are trying to make 70lb wolf-coyote hybrids that move in packs a protected species.

As counties like Egypt or Turkey - not to talk of China - are having the the means to do so, Britain will have all the more the means.

In Germany for example many of the Youtube contributions were blocked until January this year, as they arranged a contract of a monetary compensation with the German copyright holder.

You know this for a fact? That those countries can physically BLOCK Facebook...China I can believe-but you need the systemic architecture and oversight and control-I doubt that Egypt or Turkey can-and I doubt the UK can-certainly specific content can be blocked-but Facebook in total-that's about as realistic as thinking you can block physical access to a continent...! Certainly the complete inability to effectively stop access to fundamentalist websites we've seen over the past few years suggests that a complete block is a physical and electronic impossibility-and I have no reason to believe that an attempt to block Facebook would fare any better.....let alone that fundamentalist websites are unlikely to sue the pants off you under international law!.....I really really doubt that Facebook would be so forgiving!

China blocks the ENTIRE rest of the planet's network access. The average person in China has access to a Chinese version of Facebook that only operates within China. What little connection there is between China's Internet and the rest of the world's Internet is tightly controlled, and censored, by the Chinese government.

A report by LLord Kerslake has highlighted the fact that Firemen and women were kept from going into help victims of the Manchester Bombing by their Senior Officers. The Acting Chief Fire Officer said that the Firefighters were very good to obey the orders of their Leaders. The firefighters are still asking why the senior officers confuse playing management games with leadership.

Breaking News

My perception of the parole board has long been that they are out of touch with reality.
