Where would we be without mods? Skyrim never grabbed me though, even modded. I'm almost inclined to give it another go but right now I'm re-installing Fallout 3 and will have another wander about the Capital Wasteland.

Finished Portal for the third time and started Half Life 2 part 1 again.
Thought I'd share this in case any Portal 2 fans want a laugh. This is a collection of all the messages from Cave Johnson, the character who created Aperture Science. It's pretty damn fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmH7tAJ0SfA

Dead Space, sci. fi. horror cult classic
In 2008 EA released a sci. fi. 1st person shooter. It has since become a beloved famous cult classic in the gaming world. Ten years later people are still playing it, repeatedly drawn back in by the visceral, disturbing atmosphere and terrifying storyline and sub-plots.
Dead Space. You play the character Isaac Clarke, a spacecraft technician on your way to do a routine repair to a local corporate ship which is disabled for unknown reasons. The ship is the USG Ishimura, one of a class of ships known as "planet crackers", designed for literally cracking open entire planets to extract valuable ores and minerals. When you and the rest of the repair crew lands aboard the ship however, you discover it is mysteriously empty, the captain and several hundred crew are nowhere to be found. Before long you discover the horrifying reason why... A repair mission suddenly turns into a desperate struggle for survival as you discover the crew has been transformed by some kind of ghastly disease/alien life form which is killing them and then reanimating their flesh, turning them into undead, twisted, mutated, horrific forms. Some small pockets of the crew managed to survive and hide, hoping for rescue while being slowly driven to madness. As you try to find a way to get off the ship, you learn the origin of the lifeform as well as a shocking plot turn that reveals corporate interests in preserving the lifeform for profit and foreknowledge of its existence.. If you have never played this game, I highly recommend you do!!! Both Xbox and PS3 versions were released and for a ten year old game the graphics and sound hold up amazingly well. I have to say that it takes a lot to scare me. This game scared me to the high heavens. I can safely say this is the single-most terrifying game I have ever played. The atmosphere and sounds in the ship trick your mind and confuse your senses. You become genuinely paranoid to turn the next corner and that feeling only increases the further you progress. FAIR WARNING! This is NOT a game for kids. Seriously. It has gruesome deaths, suicide, murder, torture and every conceivable form of gore. It is something that as a gamer you must experience for its sheer terror and immersion.

Played all the dead space games, loved them! Really scary at times. Wish they would make another one.

I.....am.....effing....fuming. 90mins till kickoff in the Pats game gave me time to start COD WW2ing. Just installed it and get the message 'Update need. Please log into playstation network.' I'm not on the playstation network. You think I'd have bought the effing thing if I'd known you need to be on the playstation network. Have you ever thought of actually highlighting the fact you need to be before it gets purchased. Cunts. Merry effing Christmas.

I remember my grandfather and I talking about this. My granddad is in his 90s now but back in the early days of consoles when he was in his 40s, from the 1970s forward he was a huge gamer and was totally tech savy, he especially loved the Nintendo 64 and Sega CD and then later the very first Xbox. We were talking about the Nintendo 64 and other consoles from that time. I told him how now you can't buy a game and just play it. He was like, "what the hell are you talking about?" I explained that games are now tied into the internet and you have to get updates, so the game is literally unplayable with just the console and a TV. He couldn't believe it. He GOT the reason from a tech. perspective, he understood what they were doing. But he also calls it absolute total bullshit. Never mind the fact that Xbox Live and PS Network are free, you STILL have to have a paid internet connection to get updates. And what if you own a PS console but simply don't want to deal with the PS Network. Nope! They force you to have it. So if someone wants to just play a game purely from the disc without dealing with Sony's network, nope can't do it. They've made gaming into a thing now where it's almost like a cell phone plan. They assume that if you can afford to buy a console and a game then by default you must also have the internet. Rather an unfair assumption to make. I personally have Xbox Live because I'm into all the mods and game improvements you can get for games like Skyrim, etc. But it's f'n outrageous that someone can't even play the vanilla Skyrim, out of the box game without being hooked up online because it needs updates from Microsoft. I also heard a lot of parents talking about this in Walmart and other places when they were getting consoles and games for their kids. I overheard some conversations where the sales guy was saying that when you get a game you'll have to update it when you get home. One guy was like, "Update a game that I just bought? WHY and HOW isn't it ready to play when I buy the fucking thing?".......
