I have a feeling he did just that as well record a single with profits going to the Grenfell Tower fund. He was right to highlight the fact that the Government and Theresa May have done nothing du ve the tragedy and this has been the same for many other disasters where Govt promise the earth and do absolutely nothing until you force their hand - case in point, victims of the Tottenham riots in 2012 were promised help to rebuild their lives by the then Mayor of London, Boris Johnson and two years down the line they were still waiting for compensation, so if someone like Stormzy can highlight the lax attitude of May and her cronies at something big like the Brits then that must be good for the people that lost loved ones in that awful fire in 2017.

vince makes the comment 'this is not a Hollywood movie'. The problem is that too many people have watched too many movies, they think taking a human life is easy, those of you who have talked to real veterans, rather than the bar room walts, will have noticed that none of us will answer the crap question 'have you killed anyone?' We are evasive, we say we do not know, and to be honest most of us take the view that in a firefight with rounds flying around, you can never be sure if it was your round that took the man down, different for snipers of course, but they are a breed apart, I have been in hand to hand fighting, and yes I was an evil bastard, I had to be because loads of folk were out to kill me, but I still do not know for sure that I killed, I do not want to believe I did.

I am at heart 'A Para', to those outside the UK, you may not realise that we are by reputation, and tradition, hard men, tough bastards, mean and capable in a fight. But we are human beings, we feel pain and not just the physical sense, but emotional and mental too. We have had men decorated for both risking and losing their lives to protect civilians, women, children and men, we have compassion, we are humans.

My point here is that even as highly trained fighting men, we still remain human, we kind of change into 'War Mode'. A good friend of mine calls it changing heads, he will say, 'Hang on I haven't got me sarnt majors head on!'. To even consider that in reality a teacher, who is responsible for the care and nurture of children, is capable of firing a cold shot,is ridiculous, it can happen only in Hollywood!

Earlier today I noticed a kid's drivable electric car in the shape of Thomas the Tank Engine!

Sooooooo much better than a toy porsche or toy land-rover.

If you believe a CCW holder will not shoot an armed person coming through a barricade then I will just disagree with you.

We have instances of CCW's shooting the active shooter in parking lots and malls, to believe they will freeze and not defend themselves in a classroom is just wishful thinking of the antigun person.

The police officer at the school was presumably trained in weapons use at least, but when the moment of truth arrived he hid and allowed the incident to continue unchallenged. He saved himself from danger by allowing children to be killed without attempting to protect them.

I have to despise this man because it was his actual job to intervene in that incident and risk his life; that's what police officers are for. But I would point out that his reaction, coming from a man who was supposedly trained to protect and serve, will be even more likely in the case of teachers and/or civilians generally, who are not trained to protect and serve. This "good man with a gun" notion is total and absolute bollocks.

Heroism and bravery are a strange thing! My first big shinny medal came about because of a reaction, after a bomb incident in Northern Ireland, there was a shooter hiding somewhere and I saw a toddler in the street, crying and very frightened, I ran out and picked her up, and carried on to the other side were the rest of my lads were, I was greeted with comments like 'you fucking lunatic!' and a stiff bollocking by my Company Commander, however the RUC incident commander took a different view, the key thing here, and in all other incidents I have been involved in, was it was instinct, I had no time to think, if I had, I would have to be honest, I am not sure I would do the same!

That said, the officer involved did have time to think, and it takes a cold courage to react knowing that you are putting your life on the line, easily said when you are not being called on to do so. What he should have done, was get into a position to actually take effective action, that to me is his failure, but as another poster has already said, he has to live with that for the rest of his life.

No, it isn't wishful thinking. Just because SOME won't freeze and have been able to shoot the correct target doesn't mean ALL will.

Since 2007, there are 29 incidents of a civilian CCW committing a mass shooting and 8 incidents of them potentially stopping a mass shooting. link Not great stats for arming more civilians.

You'd also be putting a teacher with a handgun up against an assailant with a rapid-fire rifle who are often wearing body armour. Handguns are a very inaccurate weapon, especially in the hands of a minimally trained teacher.

I'd expect this move by Trump to be no more effective than having Michael Winslow train all teachers in the use of gun-based voice sounds effects.

https://bearingarms.com/bob-o/2015/1...carriers-lied/

So if a CCW holder may freeze in an active shooter situation, he/she should never have the chance to defend themselves.

Please stay or move to a nanny state.
