It's not depend on location because getting 10mb/s via idm. But regular browser is just 300-400kb/s. Something (maybe proxy?) on the browser prevents high speeds.

I just used " Transferwise " to pay this & it only cost me 1.2 euro. Much much less than the bank would have charged

I've always been a supporter and pusher of 1Fich... for donkey years

I've praised the early uploaders on 1Filch.

But I'm confused now.... as a cheapo "Free User" we now get this ----

These issues have been discussed in length here, there is no easy answer or 1 click solution. The simplest workaround would be to install Opera free browser, without any extentions, and use that for 1fichier free user downloads.
