deleting your own post
If you delete 1 of your posts, do you lose the points & thanks given there ?

Possible answer...
Hi there chicago!
I don't know if there is a difference between Moderator deleted & self deleted but I'm pretty sure that you retain Thanks for the former. You can see several members who have more Thanked posts than their actual Posts count. This is because some of their posts have been removed (presumably through going dead etc. over time & being deleted). You'd need someone from Staff to confirm if this is the same for self deleting. Hope this is of use! |

No, the hack is set so that user thanks count and reputation will not go down even if a post is hard deleted. Self deletion is actually a soft delete. It does not entirely remove the post from the database and staff has the ability to restore the post if needed. However, while a self delete will reduce post count shown in a members profile, it also will not reduce thanks or reputation count.
By the way, staff does not delete posts. They are removed to a section only accessible to staff. We try very hard to avoid hard deleting posts as it's not the best thing for database integrity.

No, that's not it. This version of vBulletin was not designed to run with large databases on a multiple server setup which is what we have. We have enough database sync issues without introducing another variable into the mix that could potentially cause more issues.
