Windows 7 Virus?
I consider myself reasonably computer savvy. But sometimes my computer throws up something which totally defeats me.
I have Windows 7 and my PC is less than a year old, last week for no apparent reason the following occurred; My thumbnails have now got either a small grey square with a white flash, a green square with a white tick or a blue square with 2 chevrons in the bottom left hand corner. I've tried System Restore - nothing changed - trying different combinations in Folder Options - again no change, and running security etc scans. I can't find anything on Google, I'm at a loss! Any suggestions? Thanks teeepeee |

teeepeee,
First I've heard of this but I'll see what I can do. But we need additional info. We know you're running Win 7. Does it have all Win updates? Are you running a software firewall? Which one? Are you behind a router? Which one? Which AV are you running? Any other anti-malware apps? Which ones? Are they running constantly or do you have to run them manually? Which browser? Which security apps are installed in the browser you're using? Lastly, can you provide screenshots of what you describe? |

Have you downloaded any freeware recently?
sometimes freeware or free programs come with unwanted add-on's go to control panel add remove programs and see if there is any new or unfamiliar programs in the list if you see something you think you should remove check online or google the name of the program to see if it's legit or useful if not remove it! i recently got rid of some adware this way! but i can't stress enough only remove programs if your sure that they're not legit and being used! |

I believe this is a tagging system used by Norton 360 (and possibly MozyHome Backup) to show whether a file has been backed up or not.
Hopefully one of these links will help you :- http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/gr...dows-explorer/ http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...c-68b599b31bf5 |

Mutoscope.
Sir you are a life saver! I've traced it back to my Norton 360 and I've removed the relevant part. All marks have now gone. Many thanks indeed teeepeee |
