The first class action against Microsoft
I announce the first class action against Microsoft.
Three different users of Windows 10 have joined forces against Microsoft. Their motives are different and they are asking for five miilions dollars in the United States District Court of the Northern District of Illinois Eastern Division. The first one is complaining about an unwanted update which went wrong and cost him an expensive repair. The second one is complaining that his computer went AWOL just after an update. The third one is complaining about the abuse. All three facts are well known to Windows 10 users. Microsoft asked for it. They got it FINALLY. Zero-day attack and Microsoft Word
There is a zero-day attack relating to all versions of Microsoft Word.
Here is what you can read on a Mac Affee blog : The samples we have detected are organized as Word files (more specially, RTF files with “.doc” extension name). The exploit works on all Microsoft Office versions, including the latest Office 2016 running on Windows 10. The earliest attack we have seen dates to late January. The exploit connects to a remote server (controlled by the attacker), downloads a file that contains HTML application content, and executes it as an .hta file. Because .hta is executable, the attacker gains full code execution on the victim’s machine. Thus, this is a logical bug, and gives the attackers the power to bypass any memory-based mitigations developed by Microsoft. The following is a part of the communications we captured: The .hta content is disguised as a normal RTF file to evade security products, but we can find the malicious Visual Basic scripts in a later part of the file: The successful exploit closes the bait Word document, and pops up a fake one to show the victim. In the background, the malware has already been stealthily installed on the victim’s system. The root cause of the zero-day vulnerability is related to the Windows Object Linking and Embedding (OLE), an important feature of Office. (Check our Black Hat USA 2015 presentation, in which we examine the attack surface of this feature.) Microsoft was notified of this weakness. The advice is this : Do not open any Office files obtained from untrusted locations. Ensure that Office Protected View is enabled. Last edited by Ernesto75; April 12th, 2017 at 02:01 PM.. |

Power Throttling
There is a major update, named Redstone 2, which is currently deployed or being deployed, for Windows 10.
Next one will be named Redstone 3 and should be deployed on september 2017. It is about power throttling. Here is what was said by Bill Karagounis, Director of Program Management, on april 18 2017 : Introducing Power Throttling. Most people running Windows like having multiple apps running at the same time – and often, what’s running in the background can drain your battery. In this latest Insider Preview build (Build 16176), we leveraged modern silicon capabilities to run background work in a power-efficient manner, thereby enhancing battery life significantly while still giving users access to powerful multitasking capabilities of Windows. With “Power Throttling”, when background work is running, Windows places the CPU in its most energy efficient operating modes – work gets done, but the minimal possible battery is spent on that work. … 1.Microsoft relies much on feedback. … 2. Control power throttling system-wide, using the Power Slider. Windows works hardest to keep the processor in its efficient ranges when you’ve selected “Battery Saver” or “Recommended”, and turns off completely when you’ve selected “Best Performance” 3. Opt individual apps out from Power Throttling:
Note that benchmark results may vary with power throttling turned on. While most benchmarks run fine and produce great performance results, some benchmark processes may be affected by throttling. Our general recommendation is to always run performance benchmarks while plugged in, as power throttling does not apply in that case. Developer note: Power throttling is designed to work well with applications out of the box, but we recognize that in some cases, application developers may be able to provide additional power savings by having more fine-grained control over Power Throttling. We will have APIs to provide more fine grained control in upcoming flights. Please make sure to watch out for API updates on MSDN. *Power throttling is a temporary working name for this capability and may change during the course of the development cycle for the next release of Windows. My first impression is this : Microsoft ignores the fact that it is already very complicated to work while being under W10. Now they want us to spend more time fine tuning the system with Power Throttling. What will do the common user ? |

Microsoft just presented its new version of Windows 10.
It is named Windows10S. The "S", according to Satya Nadella himself, represents Simplicity, Security or Soul. But it would be better to say "S" like Store. Indeed Windows10S is exactly the same as Windows10 with small specifics added: - applications running in a sort of sandbox; - no possibility of using applications not downloaded on the Windows Store. That is to say no Firefox. Windows10S is destined to the Education of all students (according to the great man). Microsoft concluded a deal with 7 computer builders: Acer, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Samsung and Toshiba. They must provide PCs running under Windows10S for the democratic price of $ 189. Less democratically Microsoft presented its new Surface Laptop sold at the price of $ 999 or more. This is the future of Windows. [ |

Curious how in "WindowsW10S" none of the suggestions for the "S" is "Spy" or "Spying" or "Spyware"...

But you are right Spying is an aspect of Windows 10. I monitor my network traffic through a tool and this is very obvious. But what is more important is STORE. Windows 10S is, according to satya Nadella, intended for use by students. They will grow accustomed to Microsoft products only. It is as simple as that. That is democracy viewed by Satya Nadella and his croonies. Beautiful ! Herr Hitler had his HitlerJugend and Satya Nadella would like to have his techno-students. That is beautiful ! "I’m guessing that most Win10 S customers, at least in the near term, will go to Win10 Pro. I don’t think Win10 S will survive in its current state. MS is going to get a lot of “you fooled me” Scroogled reaction over the lack of an alternative browser and inability to change search engines." In my opinion this is not a mistake by Microsoft. It is evident that Microsoft is trying to lure a maximum clients to go to their STORE. And what are the most vulnerable than students ? We are on the fringe of a scam by a bunch of crooks. |

A new vulnerability in Windows Defender
It look like a bad joke, after all Windows Defender is an anti-virus, but no, this not a joke.
A new vulnerability has been found in Windows Defender. To me, Windows 10 still looks like a giant bag of sh.. And Microsoft's CEO ... |
