Additional. I forgot to add that Bob went on to front a show for cartoonists called 'Quick on the Draw' which featured the likes of Bill Tidy, William Rushton and Spike Milligan. He also had his own show about comedians where he interviewed the best of British and American including his hero, Bob Hope and an early appearance of Jim Carrey. His favourite comic here was Tommy Cooper.

Because real ice-cream would melt under hot lights, in commercials they used to use dyed mashed potato! So god knows what the Instant Whip dessert was
What's with the "Northern" ism's If you had used other words there like those that describe religion, colour, ethnicity, physical conditions, it would be offensive. As it happens I am not offended, but this north south divide needs to be addressed as the perception of "The North" will prevent you southern softies from spending your hard earned (now there's an oxymoron) ooop ere.

I loved Instant Whip but disliked Blancmange. What was that other one at the time, I think you can still get that, but alas not Instant Whip.

I have nothing against Northerners of any shape or description but to depict the fact that at the time it were grim oop north ant kids weren't fed proper, it was filmed in Yorkshire or the like - it could be the kid learnt how t'speak like that but never against em-well unless you count the Gallagher brothers whom no-one could understand (ey 'ave ya seen our kid, alright, top, sorted, mad for it yeah!"

I wasn't that keen on Blancmange, but Instant Whip never looked like it did on the packet-that was probably mashed potato, shaped to look like a swirl as well. I am pretty sure you can get still get Instant Whip, as I heard that people voted it their favourite retro dessert - strawberry was my favourite. On the subject of northerners again, remember that advert with Newcastle lad Jimmy Nail and his "clicknologically superbulous piccies" which I think was for Kodak film - ah remember the days of the film camera, where you had to load it with a cartridge and then wind it through to No.1? You could argue why use him to advertise it, but then again George Cole did the Olympus Trip camera ads with David Bailey (who's he?)

On average, less than a dozen people are killed annually by sharks. In contrast, about 2500 people are killed each year by crocodiles.

Sharks are one of the least dangerous animals to man, though if more of us got in the water no doubt the death-toll would go up. The saltwater croc does kill about 1000 people every year but presumably they take many of those on land. But the shark gets an unfair rep. Even jellyfish kill more people.

Snakes are reckoned to knock off about 50,000 people but the biggest killer by far (not counting man) is the mosquito, with something like a million victims per year.

IMHO a lot of the fear of a shark attack comes from the way they are treated by media and in the movies. They amp up the reports on real attacks and the movies show the attacks in the most gruesome and gory way possible.
In the US "Jaws" gets a large share of the blame for the fear too. That movie caused untold numbers to actively hunt any shark species but concentrated on the great white. Now you have Discovery channels Shark Week. The shows are pretty educational but the way they are emcee'd and the words used are a little unnecessary. The announcer uses words like monster, killer, etc. this tends to reinforce any fears people might have, IMO.

Because the horses carry humans into range of every other critter on the island, all of which are poisonous?
