Too be fair the lurkers (members or non-member guest traffic)real value is

1. downloading / keeping content active on image & file hosts
2. thanking / keeping uploaders interested

Post counts can be very misleading so assume nothing is my motto

I still get the occasional request from stuff posted 2001-2005 on bgafd .co. uk

Once an uploader your on 24/7 call

VEF could perhaps learn a trick or two from Wh*tboyswant.
One of the things they do very well is reward folks who rate or comment on photos.
To be perfectly honest there are far to many pics on WBW which are just awful.
But the site gives you the chance to rate them.
Personally, I ignore photos which don't float my boat and I only ever score 7,8, or 9, out of 10.
I've never scored a 10 because a 10 would be an image I could look at forever.
Hasn't happened yet, unfortunately but loads of very beautiful amateur 9's.
A ratings/comments scoring system might help the Mods (gawd bless 'em) to take a really long hard cynical look at the parasites, sorry......., no I was right first time

, and kick them off VEF.

my very first post. i got inboxed and told in no uncertain terms. that photo has all ready been posted. please check in future, words to that effect. i deleted the message and didn't post for ages after that. have posted a few now, but not very often.

For the average occasional content poster who hasnt the time or motivation to follow the ever changing section rules which are rarely the same

I tend to , before posting any new content , go through the entire thread
( a laborious task , I admit ) to check if it really is new and undiscovered -
and that's a task worth doing , as its stops duplicate posts

as someone commented - for me its quality over quantity
I actually think , that rating a photo 1 to 10 is just going to add to members
workload -- I had a big enough task , just re-uploading my old content when we had the image-venue scare - for me the Forum works just fine
- if it ain't broke , don't fix it , if the lurkers don't post - fair enough -
no great loss frankly ...VEF posters post , and that's it

Interesting model but i'd be surprised if it would work on a forum this size
given images are hosted on 3rd party hosts not to mention duplication is everywhere

We have the ability to rate threads

Individual thanks rate pics in posts

Rating individual pics would only ever work if the pics were on their own forum servers

Here's a suggestion which might be easier to implement.
Until a member has clicked on the "Thanks" button 100 times, they would be restricted to the first page (or 10 posts) in any thread outside of GD&N?
That might encourage the parasites to do something constructive for a change.
