Why doesn't porn software exist?

Imagine you could design porn stars and shoot virtual scenes with them. How awesome would that be?

Oh, it does, more or less. 3D Software applications -- "Poser" in particular-- have been used for this sort of thing for many, many years.

They're generally used for rendering stills though, though they can be used to make movies, if you have the patience.

The process of directing 3D animation is very, very time consuming and requires a lot of expertise. The technology is changing all the time, but as of today unlike with a real actor, you can't just click a button, "now give that guy a blowjob" -- you actually have to design every detail of every movement.

The Sims points the way -- embedding designed "behaviors" into 3D models, which can then be triggered and "directed", but the rendering isn't great. This is still an area of research in 3D software, and you can bet pr0n will be an application.

It is, but most folks can't draw; with 3D software, anyone can make a halfway decent "naked chick" render in five minutes.

I can think of two reasons such software might never come to pass:

1) The porn industry would never allow it. If you can design porn stars and make them do what you want, why would you want to buy the real thing anymore? A lot of jobs are at stake here (production crews etc)

2) Inevitably somebody will use the software to produce illegal content, and the supreme court has already ruled that simulated / animated illegal pornography is the same as real. Thus making such software would involve legal peril and possible liability. Not worth it.

Still, it's fun to imagine how such software would work. Porn star designer (or pick from existing templates, some with suspiciously similar bodies as real porn stars, heh) then pick a locale, music, and make them do what you want. Share with your friends. Yowza!
