I humbly present to you my nomination. The 1980's sci-fi classic... He-Man and the Masters of the Universe starring Dolph Lundgren, Courtney Cox and that high school principal guy from Back To The Future. And the trailer to this magnificent piece of cinematic refuse... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF20B8p4F08 Enjoy!

After having been incredibly less than impressed with the two sequels previous, I actually rented this on the 'strength' of the writeup that it supposedly reflected more of the Cronenberg style of the original. Needless to say that was an absolute crock.... Abysmal acting. Awful effects. Just....aaaarrrrgggghhhhhh. Some of the acting in the original wasn't too hot admittedly. Stephen Lack was great when he wasn't speaking, unfortunately his surname reflected his acting skills when he did but still.....Michael Ironside was top notch. Patrick McGoohan also, and the effects IMO still stand the test of time thanks to Dick Smith. This rubbish has rubber arms and 'Blue Peter' glop written all over it... Anyhoo, rant over. Normal service has now resumed.... |

Good point well made fellow member bp666 , yet Christopher Lambert is in the minor leagues of lamentable acting ability when it comes to this next guy.
A method actor of sorts some may say . That is they may say it provided they`d never actually seen him acting. But then who has That`s right film fans it could be has to be the one the only , that man of barely one natural facial expression = Keanu ! Showing here the completely believable acting style to which we`ve all grown fully accustomed. The Lake House`s most moving and dramatic scene

Boggy Creek 2
This genuinely has to be the cheapest looking film committed to celluloid ever. Utter garbage from start to finish, with no redeeming features at all.
Here's an example of the "quality": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmWtaHD3rqE And I'll also say how completely cringe-worthy the President's speech was from Independence Day. It makes me shudder to even think about it. |

Excellent call GS, and I'll see your Keanu and raise you a Steven.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I offer into evidence, Exhibit A: Steven Frederic Seagal, born April 10, 1952. At the age of 5, Steven was diagnosed with a severe case of paralysis of the face muscles from which he never recovered. It is widely believed that it was self inflicted. The Orbicularis oculi were the only muscles not completely affected, allowing him to squint. Over the years, Steven taught himself to be able to communicate human expression through squinting, and he has passed this closely guarded skill only to a few select individuals that he selected through a rigorous process (see previous posts in this thread). On returning to school following the onset of the paralysis, Steven played the lead role in the school's production of Pinocchio every year until he graduated. His drama teacher said that she never saw anyone more perfect for the role. It is said by many that the Hollywood botox craze is a homage to Segal. Those actors and actresses that would never make it through his selection process were desperate to emulate their idol, and botox was the result. The end result is a poor reflection of the true skill of the legend. See top-class squinting here. Note the slap upside of the head from Seagal is equivalent to a thunderous right hook from Mike Tyson in his prime. Note how the 2nd main character in the scene takes on characteristics of Seagal. It must be some type of osmosis from the proximity to greatness. |

It Conquered the World
Good call bp666. I'm hard pressed to think of any actor i personally like less than Seagal.
Frank Zappa had a song called "Cheapnis". As a preamble on the double live album "Roxy and Elsewhere" he talked about a film called "It Conquered the World", by way of example. Apparently the 'monster' (an inverted cone with teeth at the bottom?! is seen leaving a cave (by being pushed with a 4"X2") As luck would have it, i found a trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOM0BfOE4Dw "Able to pull man made space ships from their orbits" 0:35 seconds |

Yes indeed. I'm also on the 'Seagal hate train'. Why channel 5 seem compelled to waste so much film space with his tired dross is anyone's guess....

Hey no fair bp666 with Seagal you`re dealing from the bottom of the deck
Still two can play at that Which leads me to a stupid cheese filled film that brought new meaning to the phrase " Well that was a total pile of expensive shit " ,and to an actor who could never be accused of simply saying his lines or for that matter even pronouncing them correctly Yes it`s that celluloid classic And the guy who`s still all broken up inside about being born too late to have joined the Hitler youth Here`s a choice selection of clipped wise cracks showing good old Arnold punning like it`s going out of fashion , which it did the moment he opened his mouth Mr Freeze`s Frosty Fails

Here's another entry into the Hall of Overhyped Rubbish:
28 Days Later Yes, that's right. Good old Alex Garland; can't be bothered to come up with his own ideas, so he rips large chunks from George Romero's Living Dead Trilogy. Oh look, I'll take the petrol station scene from Dawn of the Dead. I'll even put a zombie kid in it too, so people can see how little imagination of my own I actually have. Even better - I'll have one of the zombies chained up, like in Day of the Dead. I'll also have one of the characters talk about how they are "trying to learn from it". To top this all off, I'll make the soldiers insane (like Day of the Dead). Well done! Garland even managed to rip the main thrust of Romero's films - that they aren't just simple zombie flicks, but there's a deeper context to the film. Well done again for stealing other people's ideas! Well done to the director, Danny Boyle for making a horror film with absolutely no suspense and a total lack of understanding of just how shamelessly Garland plagiarised Romero's classic films. I'm not surprised George Romero hated this pile of dung, considering he basically wrote it and didn't get a credit for it. I'm with you, George - I hate it too. |
