Its not all that well known, but Keith has a passion for country music that's rather distinct from Mick's (although they both have extraordinary duets with Jerry Lee Lewis on "Last Man Standing").

Here's the recording I think he's talking about . . . it really is a perfect country performance, Keith is the first vocal you'll here, remarkably unlike what you expect. (BTW, if you don't know him, George Jone has the perfect country voice-- for my money the best ever)

Its wonderful to hear Keith go down home, saying of George Jones "what a possum".

OK, the bandana's a bit goofy . . . but the love of music is genuine. Its a terrific performance, spirited and respectful . . . how a kid who grew up very far from the Ozarks manages to sound this good singing a very country song is beyond me.

Keith's a classic. He is the Rolling Stones. The Mick is great, but let's face it...he's never come close to being great on his own without Keith. That's chemistry. And no, just doing drugs didn't make him cool. Being Keith Richards made him cool. I've been down the same path, and I give him credit..he's a survivor. He's tough. He may have lived most of his life in a stupor, but he's still had enough talent and balls to ride it out and still come out on top. Keith Richards is rock and roll.

In an interview on a News show he was asked what he missed most. His reply was heroin. At least he was honest.
