I don't think that it worked very well in my case - I do like the Stones, but can't believe that I have much in common with Mick or Keef (although I do like them, both the Beatles, the Who, or Led Zep are more to my taste.)

I have always liked Led Zeppelin, with or without lyrics about Hobbits.

But now that they are 25+ years old, Metallica and Armored Saint are considered by some people to be "classic rock" too, or at least "classic metal".

A few days ago when I was in the mood for beer (and messing around on the facebook) I got the Stones. Today, while think champagne would be great with lunch, the selection changed to:
