Models such as KARLA were so short! Note that photogs never seemed to allow props or backgrounds that would reveal just how short their model was! Can't find a picture of Karla with another human in it: posed in a chair; sitting in a car; etc. Betcha she was not even her listed 4' 11", probably more like 4' 9" or so?

Others who come to mind include Virginia Bell; Joan Brinkman; Corky Dunbar; Joyce Gibson aka Alexis Love, Suzanne Pritchard etc.

So even if one was lucky enough to meet such a renowned pinup model, say at a club or bar, one would have one devil of a time accepting an invitation to dance with the girl!

The 1950s and 1960s were a time of rapid social change in the USA as babies born during WWII came of age. Men's magazines were suddenly showing the favored full breasted models of the day everywhere. So professional photogs were on the hunt for the next Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield. A favorite trick was to find a busty, lusty girl who was extremely short of height, overlooked perhaps in high school, but at age 21 and in the confines of a professional studio, could be made to look six feet tall to adoring male readers! karla klein was one of them, standing somewhere around 4ft 9in, never shot with other human beings of normal height, thereby gaining favor with many mens mags of the day.
