The Accused is one of the all time great Australian films.

Mate, Kev, a fact .....

Australia was the first country in the world to give women both the right to vote in federal elections as well as the right to be elected to parliament, 1901 or 02. New Zealand gave women the right to vote in 1893

Why is a different story

USA ... 1920's wasn't it

Not to mention that Australia have had a woman as Prime Minister (highest elected office) & Governor General (highest appointed office) too. America still lacks far behind.

Exactly, I hated her as a PM and hoped she failed, and did that said I actually respect her as she left public office gracefully and hasn't carried on like a pork chop .... That pork chop will confuse some

Women's suffrage was enacted in 1895 in South Australia & NT (then part of SA).

Western Australia 1899.

NSW & Commonwealth 1902.

Tasmania 1903.

Queensland 1905.

In Victoria some women were able to vote in 1864 but the law was then amended to exclude them until 1908.

In Britain The Isle Of Man gave women the vote in 1881. The rest of Britain followed in 1918.

Finland was the first European country to do so in 1907.

Canada 1917.

USA 1920.

Spain 1931.

France 1944.

Italy 1946.

Greece 1952.

Switzerland 1971.

Saudi Arabia 2015 (municipal elections)

While they are not flogging women and stoning them to death that is.

Oh, that's right! They've got oil.

I'd investigate to know if the beautiful Playmate Anna Clark is still there in the bush.

While neighbouring Iran copped a bucketing despite them just completing quite orderly democratic elections.

It's no wonder politics can inspire shows like "House Of Cards" and "Yes, Prime Minister".

John Clarke showed that satirising Australian politics was more documentary than comedy.

Ok, Ok. Enough about Australian women. Actually women are the same everywhere, and everywhere men treat women poorly. It's basically a man's world. Througout human history the men do most of the work, and women have the babies and care for them. but remember that old adage: Women: can't live with em, can't live without em. Aussie women are the same as women everywhere else. And men need them and want them(though they may never admit that openly or even secretly).

Pffft! In many societies (recent/current), men sit around all day while the women do all the work and raise the children.
