there's better but much, much slower....i would say such processing is fast enough only for rather short clips etc. you end up with 50 or 60fps clips that also require much bitrate to look good etc.
you could try this one too http://www.guthspot.se/video/#deinterlacearea bigbob, Quote:
about what you would get with dvd (ie 2h 5gb or so). although sometimes i turn it down to get better quality/bigger files, but never anything close to uncompressed. and yes, if you have a progressive display offcourse you'll deinterlace in some way. perhaps via ffdshow on playback, perhaps via vdub while editing/compressing etc. nobody should watch interlaced video on progressive display. but everybody should have their sources as interlaced on disk. <wink> i think worse deitnerlacers are part of those mpeg2 capping solutions that come with capture cards etc. if those have the option to turn off deinterlacing suring capture, i would use it, ie i would cap the interlaced and deinterlace later. that would improve image quality. i grew sensitive to bad deinterlacing because we have subtitles here, and bad deinterlacing really messed them up. offcourse it'll mess up other content too, but with subs it's highly visible. so in that case i like females as less compromised as possible...heh..because vhs will blur them anyway, wether we like it or not, so it's better to keep other destruction steps of the process to minimum. i see it as a way to preserve source the most, but still not use too much hdd space. vhs i finally capped recently (good lord that was some years in waiting) is capped at quant3 so it'll have higher bitrate than my usual quant4 that produces 4-5mbit files....(ala dvd mpeg2 video, with interlacing preserved). i'll cut and upload that asap, it needs some id-ing anyhow... the point is that such video can still be used as "raw source" for further processing and improving later...perhaps when cpus are cheap and fast enough to do proper deinterlacing fast... (vhs gradually falls apart, so it's better to have a snapshot of it as soon as you can, and it should be a good snapshot, because next time (in 3-5-10 years) that vhs won't be looking that good) my problem with space doesn't come from vhs, but form the fact that i'm just putting to much digital video on my hdds. compressed video ripped from satellite mostly. really too much porn on european satellite tv...heh...and on top of that web porn...oh my... |
