Default 'Upgrade Media Player Now' B.S.

Hi all. I am wondering how to get these annoying 'Upgrade Your Media Player Now' pop-ups from happening. My pop-up blocker is on, it catches most, but this one http://82qzz.watch-for-free.mybestisoftware-updatezs.com/?sov=349994510&hid=fnnnhjxhpjppx&id=apop-ccodec keeps getting thru. There is not a chance in H-E-double hockey sticks that I would be so stupid to fall for that crap. God knows what they'd install, or what kind of comp you'd have after they finished 'having their way' with it. Anyhow, does anyone know who's behind this 'site/attemp' & how to permanetly block a pop-up from happening. Thanks for any help/info.

Looks very much like malware trying to mimic adobe

Your pop-up blocker cant stop it because its on your computer not webpages your visiting

Running a few anti-malware programs on this list will most likely remove it

If that doesnt then its possibly benign crapware in which case you'll need

You could also try running any virus scans while in 'safe mode'. Simply keep hammering away on 'F8' while your comp is booting, then select 'safe mode with networking' and let it boot to the safe mode. when there, run your virus and malware scans, in the knowledge that this way they will pick up far more hidden delights than in normal mode. Remove whatever they find, and see if this helps any......

I find that 'Malwarebytesantimalware' finds tons in safe mode, so try it as its free.
