Those that I buy here are called Alaska socks. 80% wool and 20% polyester. They are used by the Norwegian Army.

Most noticeable this week-our local fish and chip shop/restaurant had it's Christmas decorations up two weeks ago. I wonder sometimes if there is an actual time when it is time to put them up and get ready for Christmas in earnest? To me Christmas starts when November finishes and December arrives. I just cannot get excited before that. "Call me a bluff old tradionalist"(Edmund Blackadder) but I usually wait until London gets its annual tree from the Norwegians(given for thanks for our help during the War), so I cannot understand this ludicrous idea of copying Black Friday here - I mean you get that sort of chaos in the January sales, we don't want that sort of thing to happen here. I also read that the £39.99 Frozen doll is THE present to get your kids this Christmas and I can foresee another mad scramble by parents. I think it is completely unfair on them to have to practically fight each other to get that must-have toy. I remember the same thing with Buzz Lightyear and even right back to the 80s with Optimus Prime(Transformers) After Christmas you could get them anywhere but before, they were rare as gold dust.

Will see if I can find these. One question though. Are you sure the ratio "80% wool and 20% polyester" is correct? I think a lot of the stuff I was looking at was over 90% wool with only a couple percent polyester. But I could be wrong. |

9876543210,
I just checked, my mistake, they are 80% wool, 18% polyamid and 2% lycra. Oh and they are shrink resistant too.
