Default Stretch to fit a 24" LED Monitor

Is there any adjustment I can make to "stretch" the forum horizontally to fill up my new 24" Dell LED Monitor? And make the print a bit larger on these old porno eyes?

I've got about 5 inches of dead space on the left & right currently.

You need to first check the manual that came with your monitor or go to Dell's online site. I am using a 24" LG at this moment at full width and it has a range of adjustments you can make for image size using the monitor's controls. Sounds as if you've got it set to the older 4.3 format rather than 16.9 or wide. Should be a simple click to alter this. The software should adjust to the setting.

Control Panel,
Display,
Screen Resolution

Try some options on the pull down menu see what fits best
or try the 'Identify' button & see what resolution it detects & recommends

I'm running Windows 7 @ 1360 x 768 on a 31" LCD television

also, take care what settings you have your TV set-up at. Many have the different ratios & zoom etc

You can get Dell manuals here http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/...s/?app=manuals just enter the information requested. I will say that I had my 24" Insignia LED HDTV set on "stretch to fit" and I didn't like it since the proportional aspect did not seem true. (Close but not true). Good Luck

A google search of "full screen 24 inch monitor settings"
shows this is not an isolated thing and the number of reasons are varied

Everything from your graphics card , its driver to maximum resolution setting
not covering the 1920x 1200 needed for a 24" monitor.

How can I make the text on my screen larger?

In depth guide which suggests if its your eyes the resolution isnt the right fix
For Windows 7 & XP though the settings are probably similar in 8 & 10 if you can find them

Update added 10-Sep-2013.)

A good point made by Buttsie, is the screen resolution. I assume your PC is reasonably up-to-date, with graphics that run at 1920? On a 24" screen you want to have this as your standard resolution. Worth checking if you're not sure, but the picture won't look so good at a lower setting. A newer card might be in order if its an oldish machine.

This should do it. The forum seems to have a maximum width of 1000px but zooming (here with Firefox) not only makes the fontsize larger but also the forum wider.
