Losing VEF page to advert/ scam site
Guys, have any of you suffered this?
I know we all suffer from popups and most of us use some form of adblock I use FF and adblokc plus. but recently (for a few days) I have had an issue where if I click a link to another VEF page, and then onlo a download link at depositfiles (sample below) while on the sub page or depositfiles page the original VEF page morphs into one of these you have a virus, or you need an upgrade scams, or simply an advert. This can happen while you do not notice. Try this link but if it doesent work for you I'll post more about how I got to it. http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...99&postcount=1

Might be their now one of those sites allowed by ad-block plus or
its a workaround they've developed According to ad-block plus there is 1 item hidden on their page which is most likely whats triggering the ads Appears about every 4th time you hit the download button As i'm running no script theres nothing malware related to it going by the script on the page A few others appear to have tested the pop-up addresses at virus total with 0 results https://www.virustotal.com/en/ |

Thanks Buttsie, it seems to be happening to me more regularly than 1 in 4, as I have only clicked two links to depositfiles this morning and it has done it on both occasions. I get the no malware bit as both pages have cleared on clicking the back button. I guess they have come up with a workaround as I imagine, revenues must drop when adblockplus gets used more and more.

All depends whats actually triggering it
Might be high volume times which would equate to more often To be safe i'd check your browser plugins manually using the check to see link Just a long shot but in the past everytime ads / webcams / messages appeared out of nowhere it was the adobe flash plugin being stopped from updating that was how they were getting through in my firefox browser. Even using the drop down menu to update didnt really alert me to something being wrong |

I was chatting to a lad on her whom told me that depositfiles and solidfiles have some pretty nasty malware at times. I dont kno for sure as i very rarely use these hosts. I get the 'morph' on my mobile at times, not here though as i dont download on it or click filehost links.
Thing is, these 'you have a virus' popups will pretend to scan then download an apk/exe automatically onto whatever system you are running unless you close the page a bit pronto. I dont mind legitimate adverts coming through at times but if i wanted security for my devices, it would not be via a popup for DF. Its clever as people less 'pooter savvy would genuinely believe that its legitimate software and they have a problem. Ps. the only ads i have seen on this site is:

The issue with filehosts back when it first started was them trying to get us to use their download managers - it turned out to be PUPS (potentially unwanted programs) as opposed to true malware - they did it by playing the shell game - 3 download buttons to choose from Not sure if any are still doing this but any download that ends with .exe isnt your links payload Download button trickery - how to avoid it http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/sho...&postcount=151 Adobe flash download page - for when you know its outdated but wont update In my experience this can take a while to update - downloads failing at 66/67% typical - eventually it takes unless you have a true malware infection Once a month i run adw cleaner and the junkware removal tool from bleeping computer on top of cc cleaner just to remove any debris like PUPs - amazing what you pick up if you occasionally download freeware https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ PS Looks like theres a windows update for adobe vulnerability dated 10.3.16 so the player might be up to date.So if you update manually i'd be updating it ASAP This update resolves vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player when installed on all supported editions of Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows RT 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 10 Version 1511. To learn more about the vulnerability, see Microsoft Security Bulletin MS16-036. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3144756 Last edited by buttsie; March 15th, 2016 at 08:06 PM.. Reason: adding |

What has been interesting this morning is that I went to another site via a link on a members profile page. (I had forgotten the site name, and had been to the site this way before without incedent)
On that other site I clicked a dep.file link, and the VEF page morphed into an advert. So although I had linked from one site the effect was on the VEF page. How does that happen?

The ads are being aimed at open tabs because ad-block plus was never set up with open tabs being hijacked in mind
Opening a 2nd browser window might inhibit the hijacking ads |
