Finland... not Iceland.

I don't know if members already spoke about Basic income in Alaska here. For the few I read, it works and people in Alaska still work.

Its not the same thing in Alaska. The source of Alaska's once a year payment to residents is income from oil leases and related state incomes which are in excess of the state's needs.

Homer: Well, it's about time! But why?
Customs man: We pay every resident $1000 to allow oil companies to ravage our state's natural beauty."

Nevada has no state income tax, partially due to the casinos providing money to the state. Many states likewise have perks for living there.

California has nice weather, but they butt fuck you for living there with high taxes and restrictions. The Alaskan Permanent Fund dividend - $1,600 in 2018 - isn't enough to get my warmth seeking ass to that frozen iceberg. Don't see the homeless making a pilgrimage to there either.

I read three different articles on that Finland UBI and each time I would have sworn it said Iceland. Even had those 15 year old Blonde - legal age of consent - nude girls dancing in the back of my mind while I read them.

That just proves you have a dirty mind but since we're on a porn forum we already knew that.

The problem for the richs is that there are not enough environmental resources to satisfy a growing middle-class that wants to live like rich. Richs don't want to give up their unstainable way of life. Since the 80's, the old rich Western class decided to let down its costly middle class, transferring the jobs in emerging countries.
That last bit is certainly true.

I wouldn't mind a revolution, as long as Communists didn't come out on top. There needs to be a lot more accountability for corporations.

If a company was making more than x percent of its goods overseas, I would forbid by law certain things to the senior management and shareholders. Like being allowed to vote, donate any amount of money to politicians, or have anything to do with politics in general. And if they tried getting around those laws, and got caught, very stiff prison sentences.

People who regard their fellow nationals as pawns to be exploited in global financial games really don't deserve the perks of citizenship.

Not very prophetic of you, in retrospect

I dunno - Mr Trump always used to identify as a Democrat, did he not? I'm pretty sure the time will come, once he is no longer president, when the Republicans will be telling everyone that he was an interloper and no true Republican at all. And the transfer of power was about as peaceful as it generally is. In fact, as Mr Trump has told us, there was a record turnout to his inauguration.

Predicting the future is fun and we all do it. I have just been to the optician to have my Ray Charles Mark Seven second sight checked; I had confidently predicted that this was going to be a meeting of The Communist Party of the United States of America ...
