Download manager for pictures
Hi
I'm searching for a download manager to grab the pictures of the usual picture hosts that are use here. I use JD for downloading bigger things but putting a lot images into it seems to sooner or later kill JD as it gets slower and slower till it simply stops working. I simply don't want to that mess while downloading bigger things. I usually open single post separately and let me show the source text using the Opera browser, what I'm looking for is a manager that can take the links out of this source text into his download list so no image slips past me. So any recommendations for it? |

If you would be using Firefox, you could install the Downthemall add-on and try with it.

Since I'm often using Opera I searched for a good one, but no "official" Picture-Downloader was to be found in the Opera-addons.
Though I was sceptical (development is closed) that I could make it run, I gave it a try and it worked. Sounds a little bit complicated, but the tutorial works. Only "problem" is, that there are two windows and you have to use both, but it's not complicated. Works with several hosters (but not pimpandhost) including imagevenue & imagebam. You can change the name of the contextmenue-line, alter the folders to your wish, so you can install it everywhere. "Bilder Herunterlader" http://bihe.berlios.de/page/?loc=bil...erlader&lng=de

I have used IHG :
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/fir...ehost-grabber/ Very simple and popular add-on, works on many-many-many-imagehosts. I use it for Imagevenue, Imagefap, Imagebam......

Bulk Image Downloader and other things
[QUOTE=T2000;2404940]Also Bulk Image Downloader, you can use the trial version as long as you need, give it a try:]
Bulk Image Downloader just keeps getting better all the time since I first saw it mentioned in another thread here a few years back. There's basically no picture site it cannot handle and can go through dozens of pages at a time. Strangely, here it has recently only gone to the first page of a thread but works from page 2. I think something changed here. But the ppl there are helpful and will even incorporate siies you request at the next update. These are frequent - and unlike some [Adobe?] there's very rarely any screw-ups with an update. With certain YouTube type sites that they list they will download pages of movies but I've had less luck there which may well be becauseI haven't studied the instructions well enough. For movies I use Internet Download Manager. This was a great toll for simple picture sites years back but seems to have not kept up with the times. But they catch movie files of all types as soon as you play it, which is why I keep it. I also program it to catch things like .exe files which has stopped a lot of malware as I can hit the 'cancel' button before the file is able to download. Like others I get tiredof the Jasmine page so programmed Avast! to block that. Now they send me a pop-up each time to triumphantly tell me they blocked it. which seems pretty daft as I now have to delete their pop-up instead...duh riteman |

[QUOTE=riteman;2458037]I've been using Firefox with AdBlock for so long, I don't remember what the Jasmine page looks like.

Any Recent Recommendations?
Image Host Grabber has been getting lots of thumbnail-sized pictures lately, and I verified that at least some of them exist on the image hosts in full-size. BID no longer works on most VEF threads, I get 0 files. JDownloader the same (just tried that on someone's recommendation, at least it was free). I am reduced to using DownThemAll with the anti-container plugin, until that is also blocked.

Was that a specific hoster you had problems with?
I use Image Host Grabber a lot and didn't have any problems lately. |
