I'm sorry. I guess that was blunt. This is a discussion forum, so I'll elaborate!

I subscribed to Playboy in the mid 80's 'cause my daddy had 'em in the 70's.
(I used to sneak peeks at his mags and hide them under my mattress until my momma stripped my bed once and found them.)

I kept up my subscription until the end of 2012. The mags just have gotten crappy. Thinner issues with less pics; "double" issues; not quite the "girl next door" look; etc.

In my first apt. I had cable TV and subscribed to some of the premium channels- HBO, Cinemax (Skinemax) and videotaped as many softcore flix as they could show. (I don't have most of them anymore.) The few I've kept I've been able to transfer to DVD.

In college, though, my roommate and I would bike into downtown Lansing and hit the adult bookshops. Some might remember that they would charge a dollar just to browse and apply it to any purchases you made.

Some had a back room where you could go into booths and view clips of porn for a quarter. (These clips were about 15 seconds long.) We'd head back to campus talking about how "the guy kept falling out."

I started hitting the strip clubs after I hit management and could afford to lose a little (lot of) spending money. In one job my boss and I would head south of Detroit (after the 2nd shift reported) and frequent a pretty nice adult entertainment facility. I ended up being a "regular" of a particular red-headed dancer. (heh, heh!)

I stopped after my boss left and I transferred to another "out-of-the-way" location in my line of work. Those were fun days to me.

I once had a collection of over a hundred adult videos. Gotten rid of all but a couple of favs.

And now that's why I come to "Vintage" Erotica. It kinda reminds me of Then.

I do like the 'net' now, though, because I can pull up what I want, when I want, without anyone looking over my shoulder.

The magazine I "enjoyed" most was Derriere which, as the name implies, focused on the well spread bottoms of beautiful models. The problem was that the print resolution was not sufficient to show the detail I really wanted. That is where the internet wins out, not just accessibility but also picture quality.

Before the internet:
mags : my dad had a couple of old copies of Health and efficiency, naturist mags from the 70s or 80s.
I also found/stole/bought PB and PH and dirty comics (ZAKOULA comes to mind, Serpieri's Druuna, Milo Manara, etc. I also was very much into Edika comics , for some reason they were a turn-on.)
TV/Video: I watched late night TV for whatever might be on, be it German sex comedies from RTL, American soft core (S.Whirry, S.Teed), or just pay phone ads. In the videoclubs it was the end of the VHS era and the boom of DVD and the adult section was as big as the rest of the shop so I'd rent anything that caught my eye (softcore, hardcore, amateur, and what not).
Then came the internet.

I started in the early 80's with my fathers Penthouse, Playboys, Gallerys and a couple of Hustlers. When I started buying them on my own from a local store I moved more to Club International and anything that was focused on butts.

My favorite was Tail Ends. It was all about asses and assholes and that is pretty much what I am still into today. I can still remember the thrill of looking through the mags before I bought them and then thumbing through them in the car. Those days I would buy them I would just lock myself in my room all night.

One time I got in the back of my minivan (with tinted windows) and cranked one out in the parking lot of a Lowes Home Improvement store.

The problem with magazines for me is that they had to be hid and, to me, most of the pics, though nice, where not "usable" for me. The internet has taken care of that. I really only download pics and vids that will do the trick for me.

One thing I always wonder is whether or not I would ever have had the nerve to buy the kind of porn I download if I had to walk into a shop and buy it. For instance I have shemale porn and occasionally have even had gay porn on my hard drive. There is no way I would have ever bought a gay magazine and had it where someone could find it. If you know what you are doing it is not hard to hide a few files on a computer.

Pinkpapercut we must have bumped into each other, or more likely waited for each other to come out of the shop, as I visited all the shops in Manchester you refer to. I am sure she even winked at me as she left. The film was a peter North one. I doubt he could compete. I wonder how she gets her kicks now, where she looks on the Internet, or even if she is a member here.

Before Internet we had to work to get our porn, there was storage issues, there was procurement issues but there was the gratification of finding that jack pot !
Finding a new dealer or meeting someone willing to trade with you. I never liked the trading idea........I'm too private to share my kinks with another. Magazines or movie cassettes, tough to keep hidden.
The thrill of the hunt is something the Internet has removed.......having said that there still a hunt, just easier.
Finding a great movie or mag, looking, searching for the next one, hard to find in your community, the hunt was a challenge.
Plus before Internet, who ever you bought from knew your secrets, the movie store clerk.......knew I liked that weird bondage crap. It's easy now.

I know a girl who works at a clinic where men go to leave deposits for freezing. She is quite broad minded, and sees this purely as a way to help people make babies, but she is quite disturbed that the men seem to need a magazine or DVD to assist them. She was further shocked when her boss (also a woman) asked her to go and buy some of the necessary material. She asked me to do it for her.
