Malmsteen was incredibly self-sufficient.
One day he said in Guitar Player: "It seems to me that Van Halen is afraid to meet me."
What pathetic clown.
But he was 20 ~ 25 years old, maybe he's less arrogant now.
Yngwie is every bit the raging arsehole you could imagine. The bass player in one of my bands played with him for several years. They would call him "wing nut" behind his back. On tour Yngwie would stay at the Four Seasons while the rest of the band was at Motel 6. I ran into my friend at a club after he had left Yngwie's band. I asked him why he left. He said "I wanted to play music with an actual human being."

Addendum. Yngwie would also not pay the band the agreed upon salary and per diems. One time Yngwie flew back to Sweden without paying the band, stranding my friend in New Orleans, IIRC.

Neil Diamond Granted he's popular, but overrated, actually he makes me sick .... any performer who appears just nice and women love just makes my skin crawl

Genesis.

Yes, they are quite good but, to me, the music piddles on rather inconsequentially. I have to say that I don't dislike them much per se but, as for Sandhunter above, they typify a particular time in my life.

They were at their height when I first began to date girls - and every girlfriend of that era was a Genesis fan - so I had to force myself to listen and enthuse so that I could, hopefully, get my leg over. It is a personal rather than musical objection.

But I must also give the usual honourable mention to U2. To me, any truly great band should have the option of an alternative lead voice and alternative lead instruments. U2 are hopelessly limited and I can't understand how they have become so big. I'm sorry but I must level the same complaint against the Rolling Stones. They are very good at what they do - but you have to like Jagger's singing because there isn't anyone else stretching their vocal chords.

I must humbly disagree - "Songs In The Key Of Life" Stevie Wonder's magnum opus, a truly great album (and coincidentally, pride of place in my download collection).

"Songs In The Key Of Life" is one of the reasons I consider Stevie Wonder a certified genius and worthy to be mentioned im the same breath as The Who and Led Zep.

On the other hand, had you been slating "I Just Called To Say I Love You", "Ebony & Ivory" (both commercial doo doo), or "Stevie Wonder's Journey Through The Secret Life Of Plants" (Stevie definitely over-indulging himself), I would have joined in.

Yes did make a couple of decent albums early on. But...

Supertramp! I'm with you on that. What they did have was the backing of a Dutch millionaire who bankrolled them. Otherwise surely they would have disappeared without trace.
