The solution that worked - turn it on its side - press the power button straight away

Sounds like you might have a loose cable connection or similar. Turning it on it's side has relieved the downward pressure on the cable making the connection more reliable - at least for the time been.

I've often solved non-functioning desktop computers by opening up the case and disconnecting and reconnecting all the various connection types. Motherboard power, disk/optical drive power, disk/optical drive data, re-seat ram sticks, signal cables (from power button on case at the motherboard).

Give it a whirl...

I believe the laws/definition vary in different municipalities, towns/cities, States, and around here I believe only vehicles equipped with a motor/engine are considered a motor vehicle and are allowed to operate in the street with the flow of traffic.

Do we really want or need bicycles operating in the middle of the street with cars? Picture driving on a street where the speed limit is 40 MPH and some fool on a bicycle pedaling his ass off is trying to keep up, or being stuck behind some bicyclist clown who cannot. Then we would be getting into some serious road rage!

I wish it could be like that movie Death Race 2000 by Roger Corman. If I'm driving and a biker crosses my path I'll just run over him and if any person is in the middle of a crosswalk when I enter the intersection I can just run him/her down. It would certainly decrease the surplus population!

What annoys me the most ?

When citizens of your own country complain and bitch and moan and groan about the country going down the drain ......but fail to support local products

Another here is gone, some of you from overseas might have heard of Dick Smith, started and owned and then sold an electronics company that failed in the end, none of it his doing.

19 years ago he started a food company that uses our own farmers produce only to support local industry, all profits also from the business went to charity .... today after 19 years, it's been announced it's closing, a big part of the reason is it cannot compete with foreign owned Aldi

I don't blame Aldi, I blame us for failing to support as much as possible our own for the sake of a few dollars a week

BTW, we don't shop at Aldi , cheap crap ..... and for those from Europe, Aldi here haven't got the same, but is similar product line, I think ours is pure cheap garbage.

There are many Aldi stores in American cities. They are mostly used by poor people. There is an Aldi store just a few miles away in one of the many all black neighborhoods in Chicago. They don't even supply their own bags. Customers have to bring their own shopping bags. I went into one to see what it was like and most of what they have are low quality brands of canned items that I never see in the better supermarkets such as canned tuna from the Philippines. It must be pretty awful as the best tuna is only in the cold icy waters of the Northern Pacific. One thing though. The Aldi candy and snack section was pretty decent.

Where I live a pedestrian in a crosswalk has the right of way at all times. Not that a pedestrian should boldly assert their right of way against a 2,000 pound car going 30 miles an hour, but that's the law.

I even got pulled over by a cop for not stopping for a little old lady who was not in the crosswalk, but merely standing by the side of the road, presumably waiting for me to pass.

I didn't get a ticket, but honestly I never saw her, because the road I was driving on is a notorious speed trap, and I was diligently checking that I was staying under the (very slow) speed limit.
