Strange, I have the opposite problem. Google Chrome simply stopped working about a week ago. It loads, but will not pull up any website. Not even something innocuous as say, weather.com.

Yet Firefox works, as does Internet Explorer.

Very strange.

I'd uninstall Chrome, then reinstall. Sounds like the installation files got corrupted somehow.

I have Windows Vista which according to most computer people is the worst version of Windows ever. Almost two years ago Microsoft said that they would not support Vista with anymore updates. Then about 1 year ago Google Chrome said they would not support Vista, and just today I get a note from Firefox saying that I can't install any versions older than 56(I have version 52.6) because they require Windows 7 or higher. Also I can't get the Adobe Flash Player anymore, not that I need it.

I'm getting sick of Windows computers. Maybe I will do what Estreeter has been wanting me to do for years: Get an Apple computer. They are more expensive, but luckily a friend of my late Mom says he can install it for free. I will have to think about it.

I am not sure what you mean with the first statement, but the second is what I have heard before, and there are people who live in my building who have both kinds of computers and they say that it is very easy to learn and get used to having an Apple computer.

First was to show advancement in science leeches to xrays and beyond, also works in computing

Second you may struggle with Apple and there will be less help available, everything is different, but you may enjoy the challenge.

Windows Vista was one of Microsoft's blind alleys that they occasionally inflict upon the buying public. The tip-off was that it was not compatible with previous editions of Windows and would not run your old software. The corporate world would not adopt it for this reason, and soon Windows 8 & Windows 10 came out, which would run Windows 7 programs and continued the developmental path that all the software developers have been following.

I have used both Apple and Windows computers. Apple computers are very easy to use, but Apple does not have the same extensive list of developers writing business applications. Many artistic types of organizations, e.g. ad agencies, use Apples. Good software is available for their uses, but the robust ERP, accounting, and database programs run on Windows or Linux. None of this likely matters for home users.

Software developers are moving towards models where you pay license fees and host your data on the "Cloud." As a senior on a fixed income, paying inflated fees for software does not appeal to me and having my financial data stored on a remote server where my access can be cut off and which hackers will target is terrifying. I understand that software houses need revenue, but it rankles to lose the use of programs I have been using for 30 years and not find adequate replacements.

Apple is a team of crooks who don't pay their taxes.
One of the less ethical companies in the world.

"Think different".... Yeah, true.
We have to think different as buying Apple products. We have to wish them bankrupcy.

I used both. Apple and PC. Both are super easy to use.
If you buy a PC as expensive as an Apple, your PC is at least as efficient as the Apple one.

Yeah sure! Let's put thousands of people under unemployment just because some folks can't stand a brand.
Like my Grandma always said, "If ya don't like it...don't buy it!"

Apple is just playing the game the ways the rules are written. They are far from alone in testing the limits of the rules or interpreting them in a manner the taxing authorities find objectionable.

You make a good point that Apple devotees pay a premium for their product. The PC world provides more bang for the buck, but customers are at the mercy of Microsoft unless they are Linux power users. Believe me, I have little love for Microsoft.
