On the bbc it said that forest's owners were having a meeting with a premier league manager on thursday. Presumably that means someone who has managed in the premier league rather than someone currently employed. It's looking like mark hughes to me.

Monotone O'Driscoll was never a 'popular' choice with the fans. Every Forest fan knew it was only a matter of time really. The Kuwaitee family owners were never going to give him a real chance. Maybe that was wrong, they should have given him longer, but probably their ego in Kuwait would go down if they are still playing in the Championship for too long?

Strange timing I must admit? Just beat Leeds 4-2 and go one point from play-offs? ... still, nothing stranger than Kuwaiti folk as they say.

Seems Alex McLeish is favourite with the 'bookies' along with Roy Keane (great player, but no thanks) although he was at the City Ground on Boxing Day watching the Leeds game?

I've got a sneaking feeling it will be McLeish or Mark Hughes, because of the Premiership connection which our owners are saying they want from the next manager.

Now, just heard the Blackburn manager has gone as well!!!

What's happening?

Seems these new foreign owners are not very joyous at this festive time of year?

Let the sackings commence. So much for the season of goodwill.

I fear they simply don't 'get it' - the same preposterous mentality that sees the Bluebirds of Cardiff now playing with a dragon on their red chests ("then why didn't they buy Wrexham?" I hear you cry...)

The age of franchises will be with us in 20 years I fear, once this nouveau soccer ownership has a stranglehold on the top divisions and therafter any semblence of 'sport' will have just about vanished.
I'm waiting for our lot to pull their first masterstroke, once they tumble that we haven't been much good for quite a while now, have sold nearly all of our decent players, play searingly dull football under the current manager and still have that vile presence as 'president'-elect to guarantee that attendences will stay 3-4,000 below what they could be.

I genuinely feel sorry for the poor folk at Blackburn though. Their owners are so far out of their depth it's embarrassing. I have a horrible feeling we all simply get what we deserve - good luck to Forest - I think Hughes will be welcome back at Ewood which would leave, Ince or Keano at Forest? Owen Coyle? You deserve better.

I'll see your franchises in twenty years and 'raise you' to within five years. I know it's never going to happen but it would be very interesting to see just what the premier league would do were united, chelsea, liverpool or arsenal to end up in the relegation places one season. I think someone would either find a legal loophole or some unfortunate team would find themselves with a ten point penalty for some very minor irregularity, maybe not putting the toilet seat up in the directors bogs.

Wait until RA gets bored at the Bridge and decides to take up another hobby. Chelsea were never the best supported club in London and they'd struggle with a big debt and gates of 25-30000 which is around their traditional level in less prosperous times.
MU, Liverpool and the Arse are arguably the three most stable clubs in terms of turnover and only rampant complacency would see any of them in the bottom three. There again, Sir Matt Busby's retirement back in the day arguably left an aftershock that saw MU relegated last time - surely SAF's wouldn't. Would it? .
"Dear Lord, we beseech thee..."

It used to be that a team would visit and you'd know them pretty much 1-11. Now I'm not sure I can honestly say who the players are, the name of the ground, what colours they play in and who the manager is anymore!

Can we have our game back now?

Cracking game at the Britannia last night, bad start with the penno (Shawcross has got to stop holding, he does it a lot but he's good enough not to) but after that it was great. As soon as Stoke equalised I knew it was one of those games that we wouldn't lose. The crowd was loud and the players seemed to soak up the atmosphere, they chased every ball, often pressuring Liverpool into making mistakes.

Brendan Rodgers doesn't have a clue, I wouldn't want him in charge of a pub team. I find it hard to believe that some Liverpool fans are still thinking that 4th place is still obtainable. If Gerrard and Suarez get injured they'd be relegation fodder. It's amazing that so many Liverpool players get into the England squad.

It's a daft game but I still love it.

Cheers,
Dumbassgo.

The season we went down is the year as a six year old i started supporting united. I had to wait twenty years for a league title. Though i don't think it would have been that long if tommy docherty had stayed. I don't think there is any chance that ferguson's eventual retirement will lead to such a monumental drop in fortunes. I strongly suspect however that it will lead to a managerial merry go round for a few seasons. I think if abramovich leaves chelsea he will simply be replaced by someone from the middle east. I have my suspicions that aston villa will be the next bigger casualty into the championship. Though despite having a european cup to their credit they're not really a side to pull in the tv viewers and that's what really counts. Should it all go franchises way though villa would be a dead cert simply because birmingham couldn't be considered and west brom have very little success in their history (but i am hoping they stick it out for fourth or fifth this season to upset a few folk).

Berg sacked from Blackburn and O'Driscoll to be replaced by McLeish - WTF?

Blackburn's owners we all know have no idea (holding on to Kean when they were shite but sacking him when they were third?) but Forest and McLeish? Jesus I'd hate to be a Forest fan right now. I am honestly flabbergasted. Always had a soft spot for Forest (probably because of Cloughie) and don't like to see them getting shafted like this.

Cheers,
Dumbassgo.
