In my 25+ years of watching football (im in my late 30s), I've discovered that the general attitude to diving is as follows;

If a player from my team dives to win a penalty: Not a penalty, but I can see why the referee gave it. The opposition player gave the referee a decision to make. Anyway, these decisions tend to even themselves out over the course of the season.

If a player from another team dives to win a penalty:THAT FILTHY CHEATING SCUMBAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tee hee hee!

I see Xabi Alonso has announced his retirement at the end of the season. I am surprised as even though he is 35 he still seems good enough to continue to play. He has started most games this season for Bayern and still could play another season or two from what I have seen. However has he has won pretty much everything you can as a player I guess its time to spend time with the family. I will always remember his two goals that he scored from his own half vs Newcastle and Luton. A great player who was and is well respected in the game.

"Some have not always understood the urgency of leaving West Ham in January. I did not want to play the last roles in the Premier League. We did not like the way we approached the matches, the defensive system that was put in place. With a 5-4-1 in front of our surface I could have all the freedoms of the world, it was complicated to express myself. You can say I was bothered, yes. I went through the matches without taking pleasure. I had this contact with OM and especially with Rudi Garcia, who has a philosophy that I know well. The choice was quick. If I waited six months I would lose six months. You did not hesitate? No. With West Ham at home against Hull (December 17th), we win 1-0 and the opponents hit the amount four times. In the locker room everyone was happy, while the man of the match, that day, had been the post. I thought I would not have any room for improvement. On the contrary, I was in danger of regressing. It needed another challenge.

Payet' interview yesterday.
When does he say his admiration for the premier league?

The only positive I see for Paris St Germain is that Atlanta's capitulation was the worse, more gut wrenching one.

Well I never, a French team capitulates, and to a Spanish team.
It's usually to the Germans!

Go on you lot, call me a 'racist' and other hurtful names!

An interesting read.

Thank foots.

My thoughts
For me he was never the same player after the bonus payment to him in September. His form went downhill quicker than Adrien Theaux.
We are playing the same system this season as last, just that the team as a whole is off colour, but you work your way through it, just a poor excuse from him.
If rumours were true his family cold not settle and were keen to return home.
If he was unhappy might have been better to make his views known rather than suffer in silence and then strike.

Your modern day footballer.

He has also attracted the attention of the WHU fan sites and is about to cop some flak.
