We have to think different as buying Apple products. We have to wish them bankrupcy.

I used both. Apple and PC. Both are super easy to use.
If you buy a PC as expensive as an Apple, your PC is at least as efficient as the Apple one.

Yeah sure! Let's put thousands of people under unemployment just because some folks can't stand a brand.
Like my Grandma always said, "If ya don't like it...don't buy it!"

Apple is just playing the game the ways the rules are written. They are far from alone in testing the limits of the rules or interpreting them in a manner the taxing authorities find objectionable.

You make a good point that Apple devotees pay a premium for their product. The PC world provides more bang for the buck, but customers are at the mercy of Microsoft unless they are Linux power users. Believe me, I have little love for Microsoft.

I've used during one decade Apple products for my job, I also observed that their technical problems rarely were "advertised" in the medias.

But... when you know, that Apple distributes their products for a very cheap price to the journalists, you understand better why they are so popular.

We could called that as a conflict of interest.

In not paying their taxes, they contribute to harm our social structures.

I'm a little puzzelled as to why you assume that Linux is only for "power users" (whatever they are)?

I'm a Linux user and would simply like to say that using a Linux machine is little different to using Windoze (except Linux works better, and faster of course ;-))

A lot of folks think that everything in Linux is done by typing commands like it used to be in the old DOS systems.. It isn't. We have a desktop with icons just the same way that other OS work.. and a similar file system.

I'm not picking an argument and I certainly don't want to start a Windoze vs Mac vs Linux thread here but felt I would like to dispel a myth... Linux is for everyone. It isn't a steep learning curve and many who try it are pleasantly surprised... If anyone wants to try it most variants can even be trialled from a memory stick or CD without any changes to the existing OS...

I do read the local news online. The standards though are appalling in terms of professional journalism.

These two stories caught my eye.
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/new.../?ref=mr&lp=15

Are they kidding ? I think the employer has every right to investigate when their property is being stolen. Common sense seems to have departed from many places.

http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/new...t/?ref=mr&lp=1

Crisis ? Really ? Is there an asteroid on the way ? A new pandemic ? A super volcano about to blow ? Come on. Might be good for the littering and obesity issue. Perhaps these individuals could also learn how to cook themselves cheaper and healthier meals. Do you have to worry if there was a real crisis.

Society would collapse far faster than most think.

Well my old tower just showed the power button lit and not the CPU in use light. After several power down, power up tries and still no joy I resorted to what my 40 yeas in electronics had taught me. I kicked the bastard. It worked for now but I will be buying a new, customized tower.

Let me give you a little advice, if not too expensive in your case.
My brother had the similar problems with a ... chainsaw.
He bought a cheap one and all the mechanics worked well, apart a shity plastic "friction" to stretch the chain.
He tried to repair it, but it broke one more time.

So he went to a good friend who is a general mechanician (a guy who build pieces, not a guy who fixes engines)
He built him a piece in metal similar to the crap plastic one. My brother paid him 40 instead to buy a new cheap chainsaw and now he can use it again.

But be careful not making a piece in metal in case of you risk to be electrocuted.... Be very careful about this.

The journalists I have met did not display nearly the intellectual prowess of scientists, educators, computer programmers, software engineers, and the brighter business people, not to mention many strippers and whores.

Thank you for challenging a grumpy old man who is uninterested in looking at a new technology. It has been years since I looked at Linux and I looked at the programming language. The PRC adopted Linux rather that be extorted by Microsoft or try to identify all the built in and undocumented security holes in that operating system.

I have an old Windows Vista machine with a dead C:\ hard drive. Maybe I will replace the drive and check out Linux. I don't know about installing the graphics drivers, etc. I would love to get away from Microsoft's clutches and will definitely look into Linux in anticipation of replacing my current machine.
