There are now so many different days of the year that women are told to deem 'special' (which translates as 'special for her', which translates as 'he'd better do something special for her, or he's dead meat') - valentines day, birthday, christmas, anniversary, anniversary of the day you met, and on and on and on. You're lucky if you get a month off. Fortunately my wife isn't too bad about this type of thing (thank god), but that's not the point - the point is that I know that she could be, and nobody would consider it worthy of censure.

If someone gives you a card, you should be grateful. If they don't get you a card, or take you to a fancy restaurant, or whatever, you're not entitled to make their life a misery.

It's not women I'm having a go at, it's the whole industry around it that sets us all up (it's the same for women and the unrealistic expectation of how they're supposed to look because of celebrity magazines etc) - men have to act like Pierce Brosnan in the rom-com or she's entitled to complain, and women have to look like Kelly Brook in the lad's mag or he's entitled to complain. We're all being taken for chumps.
I hope you got your wife the flowers today, because otherwise you will hear about it every time she is pissed off at you for the rest of your life, or until the divorce is final.

Valentine's day, mother's day, father's day, costumes & trick or treat on Halloween, gift extravaganzas at Christmas - all triumphs of the advertising industry in the employ of merchants.

The NFL is a merchandising front for breweries and the gambling industry.

Each time I try.
After the third attempt trying to post in the comic cover thread have given up. For some reason certain threads won't let me post.
Maybe you are experiencing the same.
It`s not as if today is that much different to yesterday either.
Then it was five threads.
So far this appears to be affecting Mods only.
Techs are meant to be looking into it , again.

"Sigh "
I'm getting this, too. Funny picture countdown, although a post to Some pictures (?) went fine.

I thought it was pin the tail on the arsehole! Thanks for the correction!

I got my BE's for doing my job and serving my country, I did not do any research or great public good, just got on with my job, and did what I was told, perhaps I should give mine back as unearned?

I dislike when Microsoft provides 3 or 4 new Windows updates and basically resorts to sneaky and deceptive tactics to get them by users and installed by claiming they are Important updates, but then after installing them and checking the Recently Installed updates list you see that 1 or 2 out of the 4 are named Optional and/or Recommended.

Before installing any Windows updates, especially those which are named Optional or Recommended, I always Google them and read the reviews, and if there are any which are urged not to be installed due to potential operating problems they may cause I hide and do not install them.

I must now also Google the updates which Microsoft has cleverly gotten by me and installed, and if I don't like what the reviews have to say about them I must now go through the process of deleting them.

People who don't know how to use their email accounts. I work in a library and I see the same sort of people everyday who needs help with something in their email account and the worst thing is I'll see that they have several thousand unread email messages.

I don't think you should delete them. Sometimes an update may seem like it is not important, but some are necessary for the correct operation of certain drivers in the computer, and other operations of the hard drive.

I understand that, but often times the Optional and Recommended type of Windows updates are preview type updates prior to the release of the actual update, and often times the reviews claim that those preview updates are trial version updates not yet perfected and may cause various problems to your computer.
I will typically install those named Important with only a small bit of concern, (and even those I often Google to check them out), but those named Optional and Recommended I proceed with caution.
Just because Microsoft issues and releases Windows updates does not mean that all of them are problem free or trustworthy.
Look at that update which Microsoft released awhile back which they named Important and sneaked in when promoting Windows 10 which caused that periodic irritating and nuisance popup for many moths for people to get/install Windows 10 free.
When I found out that update number I immediately went to the Recently Installed Updates list and got rid of that sucker! At least that was more of a nuisance update and not a problematic update.

Microsoft has become a problem lately with their updates. Back in December they "accidentally" stopped doing updates for Windows 7 because some program or file involved in getting the updates automatically had an expiration date of early December 2017. The only way to get updates was to turn off the automatic check for updates.
