Complete rubbish. Brosnan was a very good Bond, he had the right look, he was believable as a hero and a fighter and gave the new Bond a different slant. All actors that play Bond are never going to say they were the best, Connery probably laughs at people who think HE is still the best, but from him right through to Daniel Craig and beyond, Bond is an evolutionary animal and will be adapted to the era he is around in-that is true of all things, nothing stays the same and neither will James Bond, for as long as the films are made of course. On another point, would Brosnan have been more believable in his Remington Steele days as Bond? Possibly, but then critics might have thought he was too young to play James Bond.

Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, are James Bond
Complete rubbish ( ) or not, this is a real interview , that's how he sees himself and me too. And probably a lot of fans who did not cry when Brosnan was fired.
He thinks he is not credible as James Bond, and I think so too. To each his own opinion. I do not think his films were zero. But it lacked something in its interpretation. This little glint in his eye, this malice, this complicity with us who was in the eyes of his predecessors. In terms of Connery, and have met many times this exceptional man, I think , on the contrary, he thinks he was " Bond ". Not by pretension , but simply because he was the first model for the following. And it is not necessary to be intelligent to know that without him , Bond did not exceed two or three films. And we like Brosnan or not, in this interview ( also presented here truncated because he also says that the only things he liked with Bond was money and fame it allowed to "make" his films then ) This is Brosnan talking. And if he said it was bad, we can accept his truth with respect. Especially if we think like him.

Actress Nichola McAulliffe, who was starring in 'Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang' on the West End stage revealed on Pointless Celebrities(quiz show BBC1) that she was the voice of the German BMW hire car in 'Tomorrow Never Dies' and had also been involved in another Bond film but she failed to say which one and a check on IDMB doesn't show any other official credit. EON produced the original film and the play that was at the London Palladium for a while.

Hi Greenman - I only just got to watch that show, and she was saying that she also did the voice for the countdown (to a bomb going off). I think she suggested that was also for Tomorrow Never Dies. |

In Brosnan's full interview here he states
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/f...h-as-Bond.html “I felt I was caught in a time warp between Roger and Sean,” he says, “It was a very hard one to grasp the meaning of, for me. The violence was never real, the brute force of the man was never palpable. It was quite tame, and the characterisation didn’t have a follow-through of reality, it was surface. But then that might have had to do with my own insecurities in playing him as well.” Has he ever re-watched the movies? He mock-shudders. “I have no desire to watch myself as James Bond. ‘Cause it’s just never good enough.” He laughs mirthlessly. “It’s a horrible feeling.” I think Brosnan is pretty much spot on here. The character of Bond is a series of clichés leading to a pretty shallow persona, run, screw, drive car, shoot, vodka martini, screw, shoot, cheeky smile ..... cue music !!!! shoot, jump, cheeky joke, shoot again ... repeat till fade. He's honest enough to admit it gave him the funds to enable him to do work he actually enjoys and full credit to the guy for his honesty. Personally I quite liked him as Bond as he was nearer to the Roger Moore version of the character that I preferred. |

Here is some advance information for you. A dramatisation of 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' is being broadcast next Saturday at 2.30pm on BBC Radio 4 and stars Toby Stephens, who you might recall was the villain in 'Die Another Day'. Here he takes on the role of James Bond and it features amongst others Joanna Lumley, who was one of the 'Angels of Death' in the original film, but here she will play Blofeld's henchwoman Irma Bunt- can't wait to hear that

Makes you wonder just how different a Bond Pierce Brosnan would have made had he have been cast when originally considered.... And not gone off and done Remington Steele instead..??
I liked his portrayal of Bond at the time, he did the best job he could muster with lousy scripts, foreign cars due to product placement deals, and a company heading in the wrong direction for a while. Thank christ for Daniel Craig (and Eon finally getting their mojo back) though, as the latest three outings have been (as David Coleman would have said) "Quite Remarkable!". Okay, maybe not Quantum of Solace, but the other two were brilliantly made and played.

I always like Brosnan when he played Bond, he actually looked good in sex scenes, someone like Timothy Dalton looked slightly uncomfortable but then again he didn't have a lot of women in his films as the climate and Bond had changed by then and no bed-hopping for Mr D. I hate to be pedantic but David Coleman never said 'remarkable' it was Chris Barrie that coined the phrase for his Spitting Image puppet and only on A Question of Spit(for Comic Relief) did Coleman use that word, mostly to send himself up and to blow up his puppet. If anything he was more known for "Well!"
I think Daniel is brilliant as Bond but sooner or later he will have to be replaced but who will fill his shoes is anyone's guess. Here's a leftfield idea, what about a Black Bond with Idris Elba?

In OHMSS, no gadgets, etc.. Not a " pretty shallow personna " like you tell us. A different Bond. More the kind of " Original Fleming Bond " than others ( except From Russia With Love, perhaps ). But, my super friend Wendigo, how can you like the Bond of Roger Moore ? And Brosnan films ? It was always just like the things you write on the part of your post I quote .

As I told you in the PM's we exchanged Mr Bond.... Everyone is entitled to have their say and voice an opinion.....! Not just you!
While your 'inside knowledge' of Bond might make your views more accurate, it doesn't mean we can't all have our say and be just as viable in terms of what makes the character or portrayal thereof more to our liking, from our point of view; and no one else's. And please stop it with this chip you have on your shoulder every time anyone deems to disagree with your point of view.... Differing points of view is what makes us human, not picking on anyone who voiced a different opinion; no matter how knowledgeable it is.
