Anyone else having trouble since the latest Windows 10 update?
For me i've had Explorer not responding a few times (now and then combined with firefox not responding as well). One time i had to force a restart. Also after restarting (also a normal restart) it won't show the login bar anymore (just an unresponsive wallpaper - you know, the kind that changes every few days) I wonder if i should restore to an earlier point, but if it updates again won't the issue just be back as well? These days i get a cold chill whenever Windows wants to update something... Edit: when i try to get the task manager it will also take like half a minute or so until it responds |

Avira confirms that this month’s Win7 and Win10 version 1809 patches slow down PCs running their AV products
Why does my system run very slow? We could reproduce the described behavior. This is occurring because of a current Windows Update. 11th / 4 /2019 https://www.askwoody.com/2019/avira-...r-av-products/ Reports of this month’s Win10 version 1809 cumulative update, KB 4493509, causing extreme slowdowns 11th / 4 /2019 https://www.askwoody.com/2019/report...eme-slowdowns/ |

Thanks for the info. The weird thing is that there is no KB 4493509 in the update history! And i'm not to keen on restarting right away to find out if there is a difference (am doing a complete backup of my files before i wanna do that) |

The issue appears to be anti-virus related - I've read at least 4 have issues with various versions of windows & kbs avast , avira , sophos , ArcaBit - it would seem paying customers (commercial & personal) and not free are affected the most - so any KB update for April could be the culprit - remove and see what happens MS-DEFCON 1: There’s no reason to stick your finger in the pencil sharpener – DON’T UPDATE We have confirmed reports of six bad patches this month – Monthly Rollups and Security-only patches for Win7, 8.1, Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2 – and troubling reports of a slowdown with the Win10 version 1809 cumulative update. 12th 4 2019 https://www.askwoody.com/2019/ms-def...r-dont-update/ |

While looking for KB's i accidentally activated KB4493509 which apparantly hadn't been installed yet, even though i had those symptoms :P Meanwhile an antivirus update also happened (maybe that helped, not sure). Not a fun Windows update by the way, the kind that changes a lot of personal settings (pushing oneDrive in the systray being the most annoying one). Nothing harmful but it makes you have to put everything back the way you had it. After all that happened i still had the same login problem, which now seems fixed (i think it was by disabling fast startup) So far everything works |
