I believe he is 99 hun but yes he is an inspiration to everyone not just the elderly.
He is already past 23 million after wanting to raise 1,000. My wish is that it is administered properly and actually gets to those that need it most. |

Speaking for myself, at half Capt Moore’s age,
He makes me realise I’ve done not much but whinge and survive day to day doing not much but that Last week we had a member on here label War Vets jackasses, Capt Tom ain’t no jackass, we all pale to him and his generation

It just goes to show that, I hate to say ordinary people, because Tom is far from ordinary, can make such a huge impact on others and it would not surprise me that it will hit the £30,000,000 mark by his birthday.
Unfortunately some are saying that he should not have to be raising this money for the NHS, while I agree the NHS funding has been cut and cut over the years by all parties and I think we should be spending way more money on it. The money Tom is raising is for the NHS Charities program, something that supports many nuanced programs that the normal NHS funding is just not able to always support. When my daughter had to stay in hospital for sometime and I had to work, the NHS charities program helped with providing volunteers to sit with her, help with school work, games all sorts of things that freed up time for nurses to do their normal duties. I personally cannot underestimate the important work that NHS Charities does inside the NHS not just for patients but NHS staff as well. I know there is a petition to get Tom knighted and I really hope that he is awarded in someway by the government. I've said before in another post I can only hope I have his spirit when and if I get to reach his age. |

I doubt if Captain Tom would relish being knighted - he strikes me as a very modest and unassuming man. I am sure that if HMQ told him to come to the Palace and receive a knighthood, he would obey. I am not so sure he would want anyone to call him Sir Tom. I'd go for an MBE myself if I were writing the honours list.
It would be a nice gesture though if HMQ invited him to tea somewhere relatively convenient to him whenever this pandemic is safely over and he (and she) can safely meet people. Or if not, at least Prince William could meet and greet him. I think he deserves a bit of personal recognition at that level for doing something rather remarkable, for setting a really good example of a modest and humble life lived with great honour, and for giving all of us something to feel good about in a bad time.

Why not a knighthood. After all Scoundrel he is already a Duke.
Isn't he from your town Scoundrel? (For those who don't know He was a member of the Duke of Wellingtons Regiment and they were commonly called 'The Dukes') |

If he was called up into the Duke of Wellington Regiment, Captain Tom is probably from Halifax or Hebden Bridge.
Our local regiment was the KOYLIs (Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry) - very much a Leeds and Bradford regiment.

Don't think it matters where he's from, I think even those that don't believe in one, but if there is a heaven, he has reserved seating
