1970/71. Paul Hogan was some unknown smartarse working at the Sydney Harbour bridge. Gough Whitlam was yet to be PM!
I remember Geoffrey Robertson on Q&A saying that Gough brought Australia into the 60s in 1972! What kind of place was Australia when SanteeFats was roaming our great land? |

It was also the only place where the people, older ones especially, would be appreciative of Yanks in uniform. |

I have been on the road to 'Nowhere'
Quote:
Think I've been there once, or passed though long ago. Don't remember what facilities there were, if any at all. East coast so probably tourism, cafe's etc. Somehow this reminded me of when I was a teen. Tasmanian's could get their drivers license a year earlier than Victorians, back then and I did drive on Vic roads at the time, without duress. Anyway, most weekends a few of my mates and my girlfriend would pile into my old Hillman and just cruise the country backroads of Tas. I stopped once and took a photo of a road sign pointing to "Nowhere Else". We drove around for a while but couldn't find a town or anything else. I guess Nowhere Else was somewhere else. |

New Zealand can't be all that bad. In 2005 Michael Campbell from New Zealand won the U.S. Open golf championship, but after that win he was never heard from again!
