I am re watching several 1930's John Wayne oaters. I do enjoy them even though they a bit predictable and you can usually figure out the bad guys inj the first few minutes. These are 60-75 minutes movies and they use several recurring actors who only change their names and some times their affiliation-bad guy or good guy.
George "Gabby" Hayes is in a lot of them and I really like his performances. Some are- The Big Stampede Texas Terror Star Packer Dawn Rider Blue Steel and many others. |

Batman vs Superman
If you have not seen the film DO NOT READ my comments. I thought the film was a lot none sense and took time I will never get back. Not quite what I imagined as Batman seems intent on killing our man from the daily planet only for him to bottle it when the moment arrives. I was a little confused here and on re winding realised they did not have the same mother but they had the same name. Lex Luther was more Harry Potter in need of a haircut and a new school uniform but still managed to produce the nasty of the piece a fully shaven honey monster with bad teeth. Just as the Monster is about to put one of our heroes out of his misery enter Wonder Woman, what is she doing here? The end of the film was even more confusing, from a public hearing as enemy number one to a hero's state funeral? I will avoid any sequel. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2975590/?ref_=nv_sr_1 |

A Monster Calls. A brilliant, emotionally moving coming-of-age film and what an astonishing actor Lewis MacDougall is. Not a feel good movie for kids though.

Valley Of The Sasquatch (2014) aka Hunting Grounds
www.imdb.com/title/tt3231390/ Bill Oberst Jr is the only remotely recognisable face here in this Bigfoot yarn, a father & son going through tough times are on a weekend break, not helped by the dad's gobby friend Sergio and a small band of large furry beasts pissed off due to loggers destroying their homeland Not a bad effort to be honest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU0zTONQvpM

Mean Girls. I thought teen movies were supposed to be dumb, but this is smart and funny. Whatever other things have gone on in her life, they don't detract from the fact that Lohan is a real comedic talent.

This was my third Netflix movie that I saw. The first two were so awful they are not worth mentioning. This is the 1981 production of For Your Eyes Only with Roger Moore as James Bond. This movie was much better than the previous three I saw with Roger Moore. It was more serious, and it had some incredible chases; one where he is being chased by motorcycles down a ski slope, and then he is chased off the ski slope onto a luge track, and then back to the ski slope where he is able to kill his attackers. There is also a neat car chase, where he in a small Citroen being chased by much larger cars, and he manages to not only evade them, but cause them to get into accidents which destroy them. This film was good from the beginning scene to the end. There are also scenes where he is climbing up a mountain to get to a mansion on the top which is guarded by many men with machine pistols, and there is also an underwater chase scene. |

Apologies if someone else has already reviewed the latest Star Trek - Beyond movie.
I watched it yesterday, without any great expectations, but really enjoyed it. All the kind of Trek stuff you expect was there, space battles, action, good graphics and some interesting ideas. For me, last year was another fairly flat period for movies, but this was one of the handful of films I considered a good watch. Okay, it's all been done before and this was more of the same, but I'm sure the majority of Trekkies will approve of it. For me, about 7.5/10. Good stuff if you like sci-fi. |
