It would better serve the public if the Washington Post remembered the story of the boy who cried "Wolf!" and concentrated on diligently researching, documenting, and reporting the many serious irregularities with this crew.
Is it really surprising that the Trump administration is denying the story? If Trump had screwed up that badly do you think they would admit it?

Yes, because he is an idiot.

Default Trump 'asked FBI to halt Flynn inquiry'

President Donald Trump asked FBI chief James Comey to end an inquiry into links between his ex-national security adviser and Russia, US media report.

"I hope you can let this go," Mr Trump reportedly told Mr Comey after a White House meeting in February, according to a memo written by the ex-FBI director.

The memo was written immediately after the meeting, a day after Michael Flynn resigned, according to US media.

The White House has denied the report in a statement.

"While the president has repeatedly expressed his view that General Flynn is a decent man who served and protected our country, the president has never asked Mr Comey or anyone else to end any investigation, including any investigation involving General Flynn," the statement read.

Well done Trump.
In the late 1980's and early 1990;s there were scores of spy novels and a few movies about the plot of some Russian bad-guy to take over the Kremlin and restart the Cold War. Before that, there were literally scores of the same about a lunatic getting his hands on atomic weapons and threatening nuclear annihilation. There were also many fictional films and books about a Russian mole trying to become President. In every case the intrepid secret agent thwarts the villain's plan before it comes to fruition, the Free world is saved and James bond (or whoever) gets laid.

We appear to be living in a world where James Bond decided to stay home and leave the saving of the world to a grade-school hall-monitor.

Default The Guardian weighs in on impeachment...

What would happen if Donald Trump were impeached?

Quote:
Around midday on Monday, Congressman Al Green, a Democrat from Texas, held a press conference to call for the impeachment of Donald Trump. The firing of FBI director James Comey, Green said, was an obstruction of justice falling clearly into that basket of “high crimes and misdemeanors” prescribed in the constitution as grounds for impeachment. Green should have waited five hours. Because by the time the sun went down on Monday, advocates for Trump’s impeachment had a lot more to work with.
The article is long, only the last few paragraphs deal directly with what would happen - rest is about what would need to lead up to such a proceeding.

I have enormous respect for H.R. McMaster and am convinced he would resign rather than jeopardize the country. He probably would take the president to task if a breach had occurred, but he would not lie and cover up for a dangerous lapse. If Gen. McMaster were refusing to comment, I would be worried. He is not and specifically stated that the President had not been briefed as to the source of the information.

It appears that many people are pursuing their own agendas at the cost of our national security. It is pretty clear that some very highly placed people are leaking information or misinformation and may be working for the Russians. The sooner they are ferreted out and removed the better.

Please remember that my comments are being made by a person who despised Donald Trump before he ever started running for president and has seen nothing to revise that opinion upwards. He is far and away the most personally corrupt individual ever elected president. Somebody called him an idiot, which is wrong. He is not as smart as he thinks he is, and is a narcissistic, amoral scoundrel of the first order, but he is smarter than most of us.

I feel the same about the Kardashians. I think that they are all idiots but then they are worth millions so....maybe not?

I can say this though, Trump is a genius at PR. He has had the media dancing around his finger for the past year.

I don't watch Fox news so I rarely see a positive news story on Trump. The rest of the media seems to basically attack everything he does. He certainly seems like a clumsy oaf stumbling through his first few months as president. His thin skin, blatant lies, inability to stay on message and the sheer number of people he continually offends means to me that he will have a stroke and be incapacitated within a year. I mean the comments from comedians like Colbert and Maher seem designed to get him to blow a fuse. I don't remember comedians ever getting this rude in such numbers.

Is there going to be a pool to see when Pence takes over as president?

Trump, the Kardashians, Paris Hilton, and Rush Limbaugh are all advertisements for the benefits of starting out by being born into wealthy families. IMO, Trump is a liar and a cheat who has gone unpunished for far too long.

My theory is that God makes some people wealthy because they are too stupid to survive under normal circumstances.

On the other hand, experience has taught me that most of us have little evidence for believing that we are very smart. Look at us arguing with a bunch of other wankers on a porn site and give me three reasons why any of us should be taken seriously.
