Was checking the bookmakers to see what the odds are of the visit actually happening

My bet would be "more likely that it doesn't happen"

The 1973 oil crisis gave the Japanese auto makers the opportunity to show their progress and opened the door to a wave of Asian imports.

Fortunately, the U.S. has retained much of it technological leadership into the present. How much longer that can be maintained in the face of diminishing investments in education and R&D is pretty questionable.
I was too young in the early 70's, but I remember quite well when Japanese commodities totally destabilised European productions at the end of the 70's and beginning of the 80's.
I was used to listen adult people telling us that Japanese products were crap.
But the younger generation liked them and Japanese electronics and cars were not bad at all. They were better, more robust and not expensive.

That was the first Asian population showing their brilliant inventiveness since the electronic revolution.
Now... that probably will the turn of China.

That's not a very good documentary. It's highly repetitive, but the part where he let "Republican voters" explaining why they will vote for Bush Jr... is appalling.

Link here

I don't know if they typically represent the classical Republican voter, I hope not, because in this video they represented an excellent argument to ban democracy.
For the record, the USA is not a democracy but that horse has been bludgeoned sufficiently in the past.

As for Mr. Moore and his films, I can't understand why any individual capable of critical thought places the slightest shred of credence in them. Moore's only real film making skill is to take a kernel of truth and wrap it so tightly in innuendo that it suffocates. The first one about the Detroit auto industry wasn't too bad but they have become increasingly self serving as they have gone along. I don't even know how they can be called documentaries. He makes no attempt at all to hide his biases. I can't understand why creators of proper documentaries have never burned Moore at the stake.

Moore makes some good points, and I bet most if not all of his movies would stand up to a vigorous fact check... HOWEVER.... He is VERY repetitive and at least 1/2 of each of his movies could wind up on the editing room floor without his point suffering.

I thought "Michael Moore in TrumpLand" got it spot on about how and WHY Donald Trump was going to beat Hillary Clinton - but to get back on track...

Stormy Daniels sues Trump over 'defamatory' tweet

Adult film star Stormy Daniels is suing US President Donald Trump over a "defamatory" tweet about alleged threats against her, her lawyer says.

Ms Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford, says she was threatened by a man in a Las Vegas car park to drop her allegations of an affair with Mr Trump.

Mr Trump retweeted a sketch of the man, calling it "a total con job".

But Ms Daniel's lawyer tweeted that Mr Trump was "well aware of what transpired".

Trump attacks 'filthy' Michelle Wolf over White House dinner act

The US president has lashed out at comedian Michelle Wolf over her performance at Saturday's White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Donald Trump, who skipped the event for the second year, said the "filthy 'comedian' totally bombed" after she targeted him and his staff.

Wolf sparked both praise and condemnation for her scathing "roasts".

The organisation behind the annual event expressed regret at the divisiveness of the after-dinner act.

As you probably observed, I'm not American and I've to admit that I'm still influenced by my medias , that depicted him as a excellent documentary director.
On last week, I've downloaded several Michael Moore's documentaries on youtube and was thinking to watch them all.
The only one I watched before last week was "Bowling for Columbine" about 8 or 9 years ago.
I didn't like that much the form, because I thought that Mr. Moore was far too much involved in his own documentary, but the arguments he developed looked very good. IMO the problem was well pointed: "In the way to make money, merchants don't care to sell guns to potential criminals."

Yesterday I watched two other documentaries, “Michael Moore - Capitalism a love story”, during which I felt compassion for all those Americans who were stolen by a vicious plutocracy,
and then “Michael Moore - Lies and manipulation”.
What I didn’t know was, that “Michael Moore – Lies and manipulation” was a Canadian documentary made on Michael Moore.
After watching it and was very disappointed to see that several times he dishonestly manipulated the editing of his rushes to defend the facts and do that probably to make him “a star”.
We can’t trust anyone.

Sadly Mr. Moore doesn't seem to be really fair on the ethical aspect. I was laughing when I watched Republican calling him “a communist”, because he’s not. Mr Moore is a money-maker. Probably a socio-liberal money-maker, but not a communist.

Well, whatever he is, he is not a dummy. When I and everyone else I knew were thinking that Trump had no chance to win the election, Moore was predicting he would.

Now he is predicting Trump will be re-elected.
