[Note: The series "Cover Up" starring Jennifer consisted of a two hour pilot and twenty one hour episodes. While the series started off with fairly decent ratings, it suffered a decline it never recovered from when her co-star Jon-Erik Hexum died. He had became bored with the extensive delays of filming and on October 12, 1984 jokingly put a prop .44 magnum revolver to his temple and pulled the trigger. The gun fired, and the wadding from the blank cartridge shattered his skull, whereupon the mortally injured Hexum was rushed to Beverly Hills Medical Center to undergo extensive surgery. Despite five hours of work, the chief surgeon, Dr. David Ditsworth, described the damage to Hexum's brain as life-ending. One week later, on October 18th, he was taken off life support and pronounced dead. Though replaced by Antony Hamilton, the ratings continued to slip and the show was eventually cancelled at the end of the season.]

But her neighbor whom Mac has been seeing goes there to do something she asked her to do and she finds them and is killed. She screams Mac's name for help which another neighbor misconstrues as Mac attacking her. The police arrest Mac who can't convince them he's innocent. So Dani asks Henry to get Mac out and they try to find out what happened to his girlfriend.

Dawson (Efrem Zimbalist Jr.), a former agency operative turned author calls Henry because he's in trouble. So Henry arranges for Jack Striker (new co-star Antony Hamilton) to meet him. But the men who are pursuing Dawson find them before he can tell Striker anything. They separate but Dawson then goes missing. Henry informs Dani that Mac is on another mission and thus asks her to team with Jack Striker to find the missing agent. They find Dawson, but he has amnesia and for some reason refuses to go to a hospital. So they try to find out what he got himself into. After the mission, it is Jack who informs Dani that Mac has been killed and won't be back.
