Rubber Necks

Cost me today Yep On our way to our hometown this morning, crash on the opposite side of the freeway, dickheads slowing down to rubberneck, I had too since all lanes had slowed down....... except for the idiot behind me, he wasn't rubbernecking, he wasn't even paying attention to our side of the freeway, he didn't slow down till it was almost too late Smashed the bumper and minor panel damage to the Missus Jetta

Guess what the rotten luck actually is This prick has no insurance I'm gonna wear the cost

Angry

Yesterday I had to take a neighbor to O'Hare airport which is 25 miles from home. What I did not know until we started out was that the major road that is used to get from my area to a ramp leading to one of two major expressways which gets one to the airport was closed off because of this annual event. This road has many names. It is called The Outer Drive, or Lakeshore Drive or I-41. The annual event is called "Bike the Drive". Both south I-41 and north I-41 are closed so that cyclists can bike this 18 mile long road. I had to take a 6 mile detour on city streets to get to another expressway called The Dan Ryan or I-290 which 10 miles further north feeds into The Kennedy Expressway which leads to the airport. The traffic coming from the airport was much heavier than usual because I-41 was still closed. It took me almost three times longer than normal to get home. Oh The Rotten Luck

I have a bit of a dodgy hip so sometimes take aspirin in the morning. But I recently had a biopsy and they said "no aspirin for a while Mr Bloke 'cause it thins the blood"

So I take some ibuprofen for the first time in my life.

Then there's a report on the TV saying ibuprofen can increase risk of heart failure in old geezers!

What's a chap to do

Have you tried Acetaminophen, or Naproxen. Almost any drug can cause damage to something. You just have to weigh what is more important: pain or fear of the drug. My late mom had low back pain and sciatica for many years. She took everything. It depended on the amount tof pain she was having at the moment. She also had two prescription pain killers. Tramadol, and Vicodin. She only used these when the pain was acute.

For lunch I made pastrami Paninis.
Looks and sounds good huh.

It would have if the pastrami hadn't been mostly as chewy and inedible as wide rubber bands.
Bastards hid seven crappy sinewy looking slices underneath three lovely normal juicy ones.
Oh The Rotten Luck

My day gets worse! I went out to my luxury shed (yes, I know it's on the slope. I live on a hillside and could not be arsed to build a proper base okay!?) to give the lawn an autumn shave.

No power

Some little bastard critter has chewed through the outside cable, probably a rat

Hope it electrocuted itself.

It was probably a squirrel. Squirrels have this inborn compulsion to knaw on things. It helps keep their teeth sharp. A squirrel's teeth are like chisels. They can knaw through almost anything. Many power outages in America are caused by squirrels knawing through large power cables. I myself love squirrels. This compulsion they have is inborn, which means it is a part of their natural instincts. I don't begrudge them for it. If you have a power outage, you just have to get a new power cable.

Who are you insured with? I'm with AAMI and a few years back something similar happened to me. I had to initially pay the excess, but I assume AAMI went after the other driver because about eighteen months later, I got a full refund on my $600. That's one of the reasons I'm still with them.
However, I do appreciate this is the rotten luck thread so I'll shut up now.
