one other thing, I can't get DTA to rename files. I'd like the downloaded files to be named pic01.jpg, pic02.jpg and so on. Tried quite a few times with the Renaming Mask. Any ideas?
DTA offers a renaming system (in the german version it's called "Umbenennungs - Tags", so i assume it's called "Renaming Tags" in the english version.

set it to
Code:
pic*num*.*ext*
afaik leading zero's to gain a fixed value length aren't supported - this example leads to pic1.jpg, pic2.jpg, ...

but honestly, i wouldn't recommend to rename them. very often a filename includes useful info.

Thank you. I found the following gives you 2 leading zeros:

pic*inum*.jpg

resulting in pic001.jpg, pic002.jpg and so on.

I found the solution on yahooo answers - which is to download and use an old version. This does not need to be installed - just download it, save it and then run it from the saved directory

http://rapidshare.com/files/82747298...rv1.1_2008.rar
Any suggestion about a simple upload manager that supports Rapidshare, please? Link above is dead, my RSM gives me exactly that warning.
Tucan manager looks OK, but hey, "upload is not implemented yet" (?)!!!
Thanks in advance, I have tons of links to reupload.

Hello, a bit of help please. I recently had to re-set my username/password, and was able to do the stuff I used to do, but recently: "I may not post attachments" with any message to to any forum. (I have a couple contributions waiting) Did I mess something up or miss an update? Sorry to bother, I'm not the best computer person.

The attachment function has been disabled for some time now.

Use one of the recommended Filehosts.

EDIT: Video Trim was recommended to me, but that site is infected with malware; AVG detected it on download before I got around to opening it, I sent it to quarantine, and on Googling I found that numerous files from that site (x2xsoft.com) have been infected with malware. Do NOT download anything from that site.
VLC (Videolan) has this facility and you probably already have this program installed.

Hello ! Does anybody know of a practical beginners guide for photoshop maybe later illustrator? I'm trying to get my head round photoshop at present but find it extremely user unfriendly , have seen loads of guides online but they are not really cutting the mustard

Any advice very welcome

your question tells me that you have really no idea

illustrator is a complete different approach of graphic design (vector based), and tutorials you need to make your first steps with photoshop won't help you much to get into the world of illustrator (and vice versa).

imho the photoshop software already includes good practice tuturials you can learn from, the main problem for beginners is that photoshop looks very overloaded with so many functions that it's hard to find the tools you really need.

so in your case i would first try to define what you want to learn or what functions you need for the design tasks you have on your agenda. then i guess it's more easy to find the tuturial which helps you with your first steps, if general tutorials haven't done it for you.

btw... if you don't like the idea of buying the software to gain its full support, try gimp. it's free and it offers much of the functionality you have with photoshop:

not me, sorry. my knowledge on illustrator is very rudimental. can't help you much with that.

but if you need to create vector based graphics, stop using photoshop. waste of time.
