More Ultravox
Quote:
I have a deep love of almost all things Zang Tumb Tumm qwerty007 Marlon has posted the best known Ultravox video, Vienna, I'd like a shout for these two. Chris Cross & Midge Ure got heavily involved in video production in the Eighties, no less so than in their own vids. It's worth mentioning "Hymn", "Reap The Wild Wind", "The Thin Wall" & the censored version of "Visions In Blue" which has topless shots - something that video directors cottoned onto quite swiftly (ie Godley & Cremes' video for Duran Duran - "Girls On Film" ) .., get your video banned & reap the reward of unbridled publicity Both these videos feature Midge Ures' wife (at that time ) Annabel Giles, as did the "Lament" video (but no way as exciting as these two ) Dancing With Tears In My Eyes video leaves me feeling quite cold even to this day. The remixed, Extended Versions are well worth an earful too Dancing With Tears In My Eyes (Video) Dancing With Tears In My Eyes (Extended 12 " Version) Loves Great Adventure (Video) Loves' Great Adventure (Extended 12" Version) Last edited by NIN; May 13th, 2011 at 08:36 PM.. |

Art of Noise(s)
For my Futurist friend, NIN....this song was a standard on that that 'panty remover' cassette (that we all had) which was played whenever female company came over...
...man I miss those days!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ux3u31SAeEM Although I love 80's music, I also have a real soft spot for classic rock. Here from the early eighties are a Canadian band from Toronto called Saga: On the loose http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gx7XbV82JfQ or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQLWM...eature=related and Wind him up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J0QdXBY0wo or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRqSX...eature=related (New links added for my overseas friends - hope they work!) This might sound weird but some of my favorites were from "Weird" Al Yankovic. He spoofed popular tunes (and still does), but he hit his high point in the 80's.
Here's just one ... Eat It (Parody of Michael Jackson's Beat It) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcJjMnHoIBI Another oddball favorite of mine was this tune from the 80's was this one based on a video game. Pac-Man Fever by Buckner & Garcia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-MONIvP6kI Last one is this song, which was the first rap video MTV played and which vaulted Aerosmith back into the spotlight. Walk This Way - Run DMC & Aerosmith http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B_UYYPb-Gk

I'll always remember the 80s as the decade everyone tried to ram the synthesizer down our collective ear drums...some were very good at it but others should have known better
ie ZZtop - sleeping bag - compared to their 1983 output this was diabolically bad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEM78ElGthI Simple Minds - dont you forget about me (1985) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdqoNKCCt7A Thankfully there were some who resisted the urge to take their guitar orientated rock and turn it into pop George Thorogood - Bad to the Bone (1982) Terminator 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Djj7j...eature=related Foreigner Urgent (1981) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stRWtrmXkHo Foreigner Juke Box hero (1981) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7tzi...eature=related AC/DC - Sink the Pink (1985) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyA_BNIcIZ8 Last edited by buttsie; May 14th, 2011 at 05:07 AM.. |
