I don't know about where you are but in Australia MJ has been recently associated with the term Prince of Pop. Elvis has always been referred to as the King. I'm a fan of neither but Elvis did have the wider range of credentials.

The whole musical world was changed by Elvis, go back to any band that we think of as 'greats' (Beatles, Stones etc) and they will all quote Elvis as their inspiration.
Elvis was the king.

Elvis without a doubt, MJ insisted on being called "King of Pop"

The Beatles will always be the greatest to me, but between Elvis and Michael, Elvis was "The King".

Funny how things change when people die. "Some" of MJ's music was good but most was trash. However I'm sure as I am writing this that his fans will have him alive and well and working in a chip shop with the REAL King and Queen. Elvis and Diana.

Lisa Marie Presley was quoted as saying that MJ told her that he was afraid that he'd end up like her dad. They both died young, addicted to pain killers, surrounded by sycophants who just wanted to keep the gravy train rolling. They both died prisoners of their own fame. Sad.

Music is such a vast world, I believe there is room for many kings.Elvis was nuts, and surrounded by yes men, had a nice voice, and was an incredible stage performer.I think MJ was exactly the same in the pop world.
They both had legions of fans, made contributions to music, dance, and pop culture. They were both eccentric as hell, and neither really understood their own vast wealth. I liked them both-not for their incredible talents, but for their colorful personalities. Elvis-King of Rock n Roll Jackson-King of POP God bless them both. |

Not a fan of either. But Elvis brought rock 'n' roll to the people. And for that i'm grateful. If MJ didn't have the tv vids he wouldn't have made it as big.
